Tree-Planting
LINGAYEN — Some 50 fruit-bearing trees and 150 forest trees were planted by volunteers, led by the officers and staff of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Field Office here, in celebration of the 110th anniversary of Philippine Civil Service the other day. CSC Lingayen Lyrma Oalin said the trees were planted around the parade grounds of the Police Provincial Office (PPO) headquarters, here, and will be one of the legacies of the CSC – which strongly supports pro-environment advocacies – in this province in the future. CAVITE DIALOGUE
IMUS, Cavite — Governor Juanito Victor C. Remulla Jr. will have a dialogue with police officials on September 21 to thresh out the peace and order situation and other immediate concerns in the province’s four cities and 19 towns. The meeting at the Capitol in Trece Martires City will be the first time that Remulla would hold a dialogue with the police since being governor. Giving a sneak preview of the agenda, Senior Supt. Danilo L. Maligalig, Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) director, said that the meeting would delve into the peace and order problems, traffic condition in the province, labor issues, actions for crime-prone areas, and police scheme for the Cavite Export Processing Zone Authority (CEPZA) area, malls and other business establishments. ROADS IMPROVED
BAGUIO CITY — Five major infrastructure projects in this mountain resort city amounting to P87 million were completed and inaugurated by local and public works officials to help improve the smooth travel of motorists along the different national roads. District Engr. Ireneo Gallato identified them as the P10-million repair of Marcos Highway; the P35-million repair and upgrading of Kennon Road; the P10-million repair of Outlook Drive; the P13-million rehabilitation of Magsaysay Avenue leading to La Trinidad; and the construction of a slope protection wall on Buhagan Road (formerly Bokawkan Road. SAFER VILLAGE
SAN PEDRO, Laguna — Barangay Magsaysay, here, will be a more peaceful village after police reported Thursday that it has stopped the sale of prohibited drugs in the area. Supt. Danilo Macerin, San Pedro chief of police, said the alleged main source of “shabu” in the village was busted in a sting operation last Wednesday. He identified the suspect as Romeliot Almeida, 30, who is ranked No. 3 in this municipality’s drug watchlist. Almeida was collared, along with Celestino Cotas, an alleged drug user in the village. PROMOTERS TRAIN FOR INVESTMENTS
SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — Municipal investment promotions officers in Pampanga registered 100 percent attendance in the first-ever capability building training to promote and secure investments, create jobs, and improve the quality of life in the province. Rommel Pineda, head of the Provincial Investments and Promotions Office, said the the two-day capability building training that kicked off Thursday at the Capitol is being jointly-sponsored by the provincial government, the Department of Trade and Industry-Pampanga and the Central Luzon Growth Corridor Foundation, Inc., an association of Region 3 governors. “With the coming in of new investments... the economic upliftment of the provincial populace will be eventually realized,” said DTI Provincial Director Leonila T.
