60% of Filipinos Satisfied with Health Services

MANILA, Philippines — A nationwide survey found that 60 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with government services pertaining to the provision of quality health services.

The Social Weather Station (SWS) survey commissioned by the the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Association of the Philippines (PHAP) was conducted between January 29 to Febuary 1, 2010 to find out about the Filipinos’ expectations and level of satisfaction with the government in providing health services.

While the respondents showed their satisfaction for health care delivery, it also revealed that 87 percent of adult Filipinos expect the government to provide healthcare for all, including those who cannot afford to pay for it.

Furthermore, the Survey of Filipinos on Healthcare Services and Financing also found that 87 percent of Filipinos who were surveyed agree that it is the duty of the government to provide healthcare for all Filipinos, including those who cannot afford to pay for it.

The main thrust of the administration is attaining a universal coverage under PhilHealth.
