Brand new slot machines headed to Pagcor casinos in Jan.

Government-run casino centers are in for a major upgrade as the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) expects to deliver 3,000 brand new slot machines by January next year.

Ajejandro H. Tengco, Pagcor chairman and chief executive officer, said the delivery of brand new slot machines is a crucial part of the gaming regulator and operator’s modernization initiative aimed at boosting revenues.

“We have an agreement in place with a supplier for a revenue-sharing scheme for these new machines which we expect to generate at least P18 billion in revenues in the next five years,” Tengco said in a statement.

“We are also modernizing our table games by replacing our old ones with new and more sophisticated gaming tables to attract more players and further increase revenues,” he added.

Alongside its ambitious casino modernization plan, Pagcor is making strides to expand its presence in the online market.

Tengco said Pagcor is in the process of acquiring a dedicated system for its forthcoming online platform, which will bear the name casinofilipino.com.

The aim behind this strategic move is to secure a substantial portion of the lucrative online market, further bolstering Pagcor's position as a major player in the gaming industry, he said.

Last July, Tengco said Pagcor will modernize first the digital security and technology infrastructure of its Casino Filipino facilities before hitting the auction block.

He said Pagcor will invest in the modernization of Casino Filipino's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cybersecurity infrastructure.

Tengco explained that the purpose of the ICT and cybersecurity upgrade is to enhance the value of the Casino Filipino properties prior to their privatization as gaming venues.

Initiatives include enhancing the Casino management system through the introduction of Casino Filipino Online, upgrading over 3,000 electronic gaming machines (EGMs), and updating the Pagcor Technical Standards.
