COPS NET ILLEGAL FISHERS
TUBURAN, Cebu – Police and fish wardens have recently arrested five fishermen for allegedly fishing at a marine sanctuary off seawaters of barangay Antipolo, this town. Police believed the arrested fishermen have local contact persons because they were mostly from outside Cebu. PO2 Junyl Ater of the Tuburan Police Station identified the arrested fishermen as Arnel Trigon from Guiholngan, Negros Oriental; Ian Rescuena from Tubigon, Bohol; Roger Alcanzado and Felix Caballes both from Pondol Balamban; and Eduardo Teralles from Antipolo, Tuburan. They were arrested by policemen and barangay officials. The fishermen, according to PO2 Ater, of the Tuburan Police Station said were on board a pump boat when arrested. Ater said they find it difficult to arrest other illegal fishers as the latter use telescopes in monitoring the presence of authorities. The fishermen used a compressor to catch fish inside the marine sanctuary of Barangay Antipolo. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
