PRO1 Cops Ready for Village Polls

CAMP BRIGADIER GENERAL OSCAR M. FLORENDO, San Fernando City, La Union — The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) has underscored its preparedness for the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections scheduled on October 25 this year during a command conference held at the Masigasig Center here Saturday afternoon.

Chief Supt. Orlando M. Mabutas, PRO 1 director, presided over the conference attended by members of the PRO 1 command group, the provincial police directors of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur, and Ilocos Norte, and the division chiefs and other key PRO 1 personnel, including the heads of national support units based in the region.

 Also in attendance were officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Regional Office 1 led by Noli R. Pipo, the Regional Election Director. With him are the four Provincial Election Supervisors and other senior officials of the said agency.

Police Supt. Noel B. Amoyen, chief of the Regional Operations and Plans Division, updated the participants on the various preparations for the elections, particularly on PRO 1’s implementing plan to Letter of Instructions 41-2010 dubbed “HOPE 2010-Bravo.” (Dexter See)

Gun Ban Drive Nets 4 in Cavite

IMUS, Cavite — Police authorities arrested at least four gun ban violators, including a security guard and a driver, during operations over the weekend in Cavite.

The operations were ordered by Senior Supt. Danilo L. Maligalig, Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO) director, after the 45-day firearms ban for the barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections took effect Friday night.

The four violators were arrested in operations in Amadeo, Rosario, and Tanza, three of the seven towns that are in the CPPO election watch list.

Supt. Edgar B. Roquero, CPPO deputy director for operations, said that aside from the three towns, the others in the watch list are Bacoor, Alfonso, Silang, Carmona, and the cities of Trece Martires and Tagaytay.

Maligalig ordered the implementation of security measures, such as installation of checkpoints and the conduct of police operations, in some villages of the towns and cities which were tagged as “election areas of concern.” (Anthony Giron)

PNP Recruitment Extended Anew

CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Sunday that the recruitment for new policemen particularly Bataeños who want to enter the service has been extended up to September 30, to give more time to other applicants in the region.

Bataan police director, Sr. Supt. Arnold D. Gunnacao, asked newsmen to air this opportunity to aspiring policemen, saying the venue for the processing will be at Camp Olivas but the examination will be held right inside the BPSU compound in Balanga City.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Karen Clark, public information officer, said that applicants for the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) is now also open and applicants should be a natural born Filipino citizen, of good moral character, male or female, single and with no legal obligation to support a child or children, 17 to 21-years-old (born between May 2, 1989 to May 1, 1994), with a height of  at least 162.5 cm (5feet, 4 inches) for male, and 157.5 cm (5feet, 2 inches) for female, and at least a high school graduate. Clark said that all applicants should be physically and mentally fit for cadetship training, has no criminal, administrative, or civil case. (Mar Supnad)
