The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) lauded on Thursday, Jan. 11, the agencies and parties involved what he describes as a masterful management in the conduct of Traslacion 2024 to celebrate and honor the Feast of the Black Nazarene.
“We particularly acknowledge and recognize the efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Metro Manila Development Authority, and the local government unit of Manila for their effective and efficient synergy and collaboration to ensure a peaceful Traslacion as well as the safety and security of the devotees,’’ DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur’’ Abalos Jr. said in behalf of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.
Abalos noted that the “rigid preparations and hard work paid off as Traslacion 2024, which is the first after the pandemic, will go down the annals of the country’s history as the fastest procession in recent years which lasted for 14 hours, 59 minutes, and 10 seconds.’’
Despite some injuries and medical emergencies among the devotees, Abalos noted that there were also no major untoward incidents or deaths reported before, during and after the Traslacion and the masses which were attended by over 7,000,000 devotees.
The DILG chief also thanked “the millions of devotees who heeded the guidance and reminders of the authorities while expressing their faith in the Black Nazarene.’’
