PNP starts gradual pull out of cops deployed in Northern Luzon for 'Egay' response

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has started recalling the uniformed personnel it deployed in Northern Luzon last month to assist in the disaster response due to the onslaught of typhoon 'Egay".

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said the decision to recall around 200 cops from the National Headquarters was based on the assessment that the situation in Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley Region and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have already started improving.

“”We are gradually pulling out our personnel there because these affected regions have already started bouncing back,” said Fajardo.

The three regions are the hardest hit areas in Luzon by at least two weather disturbances that hit the country. particularly "Egay".

The PNP earlier sent around 200 personnel in the area, along with more than P3 million worth of relief assistance.

Fajardo said that the remaining police forces in the three regions are now focusing on relief distribution.
