Setting foot in Davao for the first time since the "word war" between him and his predecessor, President Marcos said he was happy to be back at a place that holds fond memories for him and his family.

"Masaya ako at nakadalaw uli ako dito sa Davao (I am happy that I was able to visit Davao again)," Marcos said as he began his speech at the distribution of land titles in Davao City on Wednesday, Feb. 7.
He was joined by Vice President Sara Duterte, who also introduced him before addressing the Davaoeños.
"Maraming masasayang alaala ang ibinigay ng Dabaweño sa akin at sa aking pamilya sa mga nakalipas na panahon (There were many fond memories given by Davaoeños to me and family in the past)," Marcos said.
"Marami ring mga pagkakaibigang panghabambuhay ang nabuo rito (There were also many friendships that are for life formed here)," he added.
Marcos and Vice President Duterte, whose bailiwick is Davao, were runningmates in the 2022 elections, and are the leaders of the political alliance UniTeam which catapulted their bid to the highest government positions in the country.
"Hindi maaaring mawala sa aking puso ang pagmamahal ng Davao [at] sa mga tao rito (My love for the Davao cannot disappear)," Marcos said.
The President's visit to Davao City came 10 days after former president Rodrigo Duterte accused him of being a "drug addict" during a rally last Jan. 28, the same night Marcos launched the "Bagong Pilipinas" concept in Manila.
Before leaving for Vietnam the next day, Marcos hit back saying, it must be the fentanyl talking.
Marcos also denied that UniTeam is crumbling after the verbal tussle between him and the older Duterte. He clarified that his relationship with the Vice President remains the same and UniTeam "is still vibrant."
