2 female suspects alleged to be Communist insurgents arrested in Tacloban

By Marie Tonette Marticio  TACLOBAN City  - Five alleged high-ranking female Communist terrorist group (CTG) officials were nabbed in an operation carried out by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group 8, Tacloban City Police, and Army 8th Infantry Division Friday, February 7, morning. The suspects were identified as Frenchie Mae Castro Cumpio, alias “Pen”, who was alleged to be the Secretary of Regional White Area Committee (RWAC), She also claims to be the executive director and anchor of an online media page and a blocktime radio program. The other suspect was identified as Marielle Alvez Domequil, alias “Maye”, RWAC member and the alleged finance officer of Rural Missionaries of the Philippines-Eastern Visayas (RMP-EV). Two search warrants were issued by Tacloban regional trial court judge Eligio P Petilla for alleged violation of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms  and Ammunitions. The warrants were served in their alleged safehouses located on the third floor of a residential building in Calanipawan Road, Barangay 96 here. The search also yielded two fragmentation grenades, one Taurus Cal .45 pistol, one Colt Cal .45 pistol, two magazine assembly for Cal .45, 14 live ammo for cal .45,  and a flag of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) The arrested suspects and confiscated items are now under the custody of the CIDG 8 Office. Major General Pio Q Diñoso III, Joint Task Force Storm Commander said: “Ang pagkakaaresto kay Frenchie Castro Cumpio at ng kanyang mga kasamahan ay resulta ng ating pagtutulungan – impormasyon mula sa ating mga kababayan, teamwork ng ating security forces at suporta ng ating local na pamahalaan at mga ahensiya”. “Sinasabuhay na po natin ang whole-of-nation approach. Ipagpatuloy lang po natin ito at siguradong marami pa tayong mahuhuli at ma-neutralize na miyembro ng Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at sama-sama nating ma-aaccomplish ang ating mission to end local communist armed conflict dito sa Eastern Visayas”, Diñoso added.
