Fun prints for the summer

By Jessica Pag-iwayan   In collaboration with two international talented print designers, H&M welcomes the summer with their newest kids collection. Little girls will have fun sashaying in pretty dresses, pants, and jumpsuits in floral and animal prints, presented in bold and vivid colors. Created by British artist Michelle Morin, these designs reflect the beauty and complexity of nature with its patterns, textures, and narrative elements. Cute boys will swag their way to coolness with ocean-inspired designs made by Jonas Claesson, a Swedish designer that takes his crafts’ inspiration from his Scandinavian roots resulting to works that reflect the wonders of this world. Inspired by these collection, the retail house hosted an art workshop during its fashion line launch. Under the supervision of Filipino artist Tippy Go of The Googly Gooeys, celebrity moms like Angelu De Leon-Rivera, Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio and Samantha Godinez-Valenciano, together with their kids, had tons of fun participating in the activities. Children unleashed their creativity and expressed themselves in coming up with their own artworks. Joining this workshop also equipped them to be resourceful and confident in trying new things and techniques. Aside from these, they had a memorable bonding experience with their moms as they both learned how to create 3D arts and pop-up arts also taught by Go. Art attack “Kids are creative, resourceful, and fearless when creating. Adults are usually afraid to make mistakes and we can really learn a lot about creativity and apply that into entrepreneurship or solving business-related problems,” shared Go. “Kids usually go out of the box and go beyond what’s given to them.” Five tips for artsy bonding Go also gave tips on how we can have art projects with our kids, especially this summer where they have a lot of free leisure time.

  • Allow kids to make mistakes and explore on their own.
  • Encourage them along the way
  • Suggest, instead of pointing out what we might see as mistakes, and
  • Remind them that this is being done in the spirit of fun.
