WATCH: Gran Turismo revs up with first trailer

High speed brings higher stakes. Different from other video game adaptation movies, Gran Turismo is a classic, phenom-outta-nowhere true story. Following the rise of Jann Mardenborough, played by Archie Madekwe, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional racecar driver. Adapted from the popular PlayStation video game franchise, Gran Turismo began in 1997, the game put an emphasis on realism, with simulations mirroring real-life appearances and performances of licensed vehicles. Releasing 14 versions since its debut, and more than 90 million units sold worldwide, this video game makes it the highest-selling video game franchise for Sony and PlayStation. Also stars David Harbour, Orlando Bloom, Darren Barnet, Geri Halliwell Horner and Djimon Hounsou, and directed by Neill Blomkamp.
