MANILA, Philippines — A lawmaker in the House of Representatives on Tuesday sought for major investment incentives for local and foreign companies that give services and manufacture products that are friendly to the environment.

Aurora Rep. Juan Edgardo Angara explained that the incentives will promote the so-called “green technology,” which is the application of science on products that protect  natural resources in the planet.

Angara said that the government may even grant jobs to people by entertaining investments from “green companies” associated in the industries of power generation, recycling, water purification, air purification sewage treatment, environmental remediation, solid waste management, renewable energy and energy conservation.

“As a matter of fact, the popularity of construction companies that have expertise in designing green technology like the use of roofs and wall panels made out of solar cells or the installation of household water recycling system is gaining popularity,” Angara said.
