Over P150,000 worth of shabu, submachine gun seized in Taytay buy-bust op

A 24-year-old man was nabbed by operatives of the Taytay Municipal Police for illegal drugs and illegal possession of firearms on Monday, Jan. 15, the Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said Tuesday, Jan. 16.

The suspect was identified as "Kulkul", a construction worker hailing from Abuyog, Leyte.

The police report said Kulkul was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency - Rizal (PDEA-Rizal) held in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal at around 9:10 p.m.

Recovered from him were shabu worth P156,400 and an UZI submachine gun chambered in 9mm.

The recovered evidences were brought to the Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination while the suspect is detained at the Taytay Custodial Facility.

Charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 or RA 9165 and Firearms Law (RA 10591) are currently being filed against the suspect.
