Fully-customizable plans from Globe enable Blackberry users to email, send instant messages, and check social networking sites while on the Go

Globe Telecom takes the lead in the Philippine deployment of BlackBerry devices, beating key competitors in terms of sales and number of subscribers using the device. As of end-September 2010, the company’s BlackBerry sales were up more than 200% year-on-year, with over 40,000 units sold.

BlackBerry is a line of smartphones designed and developed by Canada-based firm Research In Motion (RIM). The company also creates software for businesses and the operating system that allows the BlackBerry smartphone to provide mobile access to email, IM, apps, media files, the Internet and more. Today, RIM’s BlackBerry commands about 20% of the worldwide smartphone market with about 50-Million users.

The BlackBerry offers from Globe, coupled with its post-paid and complementary add-on offers that have given users the convenience of connectivity at their fingertips, have helped Globe maintain its market leadership, particularly in the postpaid plan category.

“Globe has been a vital partner of RIM since 2002, when the BlackBerry debuted in the Philippines,” said Menchi Orlina, Chief Marketing Officer of Globe Telecom, “Globe and the BlackBerry both share a passion for innovation to make things easier and simpler for our customers. We have an array of prepaid and postpaid offers where Globe subscribers can customize and tailor-fit depending on their usage of their BlackBerry devices.”

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 comes free with a My Fully Loaded Plan 999, while the BlackBerry Bold 9700 is free at My Fully Loaded Plan 2499.

On top of the all-consumable plans, BlackBerry users can freely surf on sites within the BlackBerry Access Point Name (APN) like Twitter, Flickr,  Facebook and Multiply using free mobile surfing hours that come with the My Fully Loaded Plans, or surf to sites that are not yet optimized on the BlackBerry APN like YouTube via Super Surf for BlackBerry MAX.

Globe also offers a customizable postpaid plan for business customers with Business Plus. As an add-on, get 30 hours or 160MB worth of mobile browsing at P399 a month. For unlimited browsing, Business Plus provides mobile internet access at P999 a month.
