Cavite Shuffles Police Officials
CAVITE, Philippines – The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) implemented a reorganization with the designation of five key officers to vital positions in the command to improve further the peace and order and police services in the province.
Superintendent Danilo L. Maligalig, PPO director, designated Sup. Edgar B. Roquero, PPO deputy director for operations (DDO), as chief of the Bacoor Municipal Police Station (MPS) vice Supt. Redrico A. Maranan. Supt. Joseph S. Javier, PPO Security Management Company (SMC) chief, is now Cavite City police chief, replacing Supt. Danilo Buentipo.
Maranan was assigned to the position left by Javier while Buentipo is now chief for Police Community Relations (PCR) of the PPO, replacing Supt. Gregorio Evangelista. Maligalig also assigned Supt. Josemarte T. Paras, PPO deputy director for administration (DDA) as DDO and placed Evangelista as DDA. (Anthony Giron)
Priests, Mayors Play for Project
BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines — Church, government and the private sector joined hands recently to raise money for the construction of the Residencia Sacerdotal or the proposed Bataan Clergy Retirement Home.
No less than Gov. Enrique “Tet” Garcia and Bishop Ruperto Santos graced the first-ever basketball tournament held at the Bataan People’s Center here that pitted Team Alcaldes, composed of mayors and local government executives, against the Team Padres, composed of priests, to raise funds for the project.
Dubbed as “Padres y Alcaldes Basketball Game”, the basketball game was also aimed at establishing a closer friendship and cooperation between local chief executives and church officials. (Mar T. Supnad)
Mercury Ban Up in Rizal
RIZAL PROVINCE, Philippines — The province-wide ban on mercury-containing medical apparatus is on its full swing as provincial and local government -run hospitals are targeting the total ban on the toxic substance in various health care facilities starting next month.
Rizal Provincial Health Office (PHO) chief, Dr. Iluminado Victoria said that by December, all government-run hospitals must have complied with the Department of Health (DoH) Administrative Order No. 21 which mandates the gradual phase out of hospital devices containing mercury.
Victoria said Rizal Governor Casimiro “Jun-Jun” Ynares III, who is himself a doctor, is fully supporting the drive. (Nel B. Andrade)
'Pulis Ko, Titser Ko' in Region 4
CALABARZON, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Region 4 will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Monday to formalize a partnership between the two agencies in bringing to public elementary schools in the region the PNP's “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” Program.
Chief Superintendent Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr. and Region 4-A DepEd Superintendent Paraluman R. Giron will sign the MoA, here on Nov. 15.
One of part of the MOA is to collaborate in formulating a Grade 4 curriculum and the teaching methodology to be used in its implementation. The “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” program is a strategic school-based crime awareness project of PNP and DepEd in Region 4-A wherein policemen from different units in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) who were former teachers or graduates of BSEd will teach students about crime prevention awareness, child safety, welfare and development, lectures on patriotism, nationalism, and other subjects.
