MANILA, Philippines – Consistently rating higher than competing programs on its time slot, GMA Network’s flagship primetime newscast “24 Oras” maintains its lead from Nov. 8 to 11 based on Mega Manila overnight people ratings data from the more widely recognized TV ratings service, Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Reports reaching us say that despite the changes in the roster of news readers in ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol” and the hype surrounding TV5’s new show “Willing Willie,” viewers clearly preferred “24 Oras,” which is bannered by two of the most credible and most respected names in broadcast journalism – Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco.

Nov. 8 ratings data show GMA-7’s primetime newscast, with its 11.6 rating points, outclassing ABS-CBN’s “TV Patrol,” 10.7. During the time slot it aired alongside newscasts “24 Oras” and “TV Patrol,” TV5’s “Willing Willie” only managed 10.3 (overlap with “24 Oras”).

“24 Oras” continued its dominance on Tuesday, Nov. 9, as it pulled ahead with 11.9 rating points against “TV Patrol’s” 9.5. During the time slot it aired alongside the two newscasts, “Willing Willie” had 10.2 rating points (overlap with “24 Oras”).

The following day, Nov. 10, “24 Oras’” 11.7 rating points still led “TV Patrol’s” 9.8. “Willing Willie” got 10.2 rating points (overlap with “24 Oras”).

By Nov. 11, “24 Oras” posted 12.8 rating points as against “TV Patrol’s” 9.9. “Willing Willie” only managed 11 rating points (overlap with “24 Oras”).

Meet CJ, young man in a hurry

He is only 19 years old and it seems CJ Caparas, with all the things he is doing these days, is a young man in a hurry!

CJ is the firstborn of Donna Villa and Carlo J. Caparas, dubbed the “Golden Couple of Showbiz.” Although CJ is an aspiring actor (he currently stars in a teleserye), he puts his studies before anything else. He wants to be a lawyer and be a congressman after passing the bar, rationalizing that a good lawyer can be a good politician. And to be able to achieve short cuts, CJ is presently a home school student.

CJ got his good looks from his mom Donna, a successful producer and former actress who was voted recently as one of the “10 Most Beautiful Faces in Showbiz.”

“But I’m so lucky to have that masa look and charisma of my dad...and I hope to achieve also his animal appeal and tenacity but minus the controversies!” CJ said.

Asked if he isn’t intimidated by his parents’ stature in showbiz, CJ answered “their achievements are awesome.”

After “Sa Ngalan ng Busabos,” with Manny Pacquiao, CJ played the lead role in “Kroko,” an action-adventure teleserye. These appearances were enough to catch the attention of PMPC members to give their nod and enlist CJ among the shoo-ins in the “New Male Performer of the Year” award category.
