'Pilipinas Kay Ganda'

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DoT) has unveiled the Philippines’ new slogan that depicts the country’s warmth and hospitality.
The new slogan called “Pilipinas Kay Ganda,’’ which replaced “WOW! Philippines,’’ was launched before members of the tourism industry and honorary guest, Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The new brand carries both visual and verbal idioms of the beauty of the Philippines through the tagline “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” and a colorful logo that incorporates a coconut tree, sun, and tarsier to depict the country’s unique tropical beauty and sunny dispositions.
Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim cited “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” as reflective of the optimism being represented by the new administration.
“The new Philippine brand will be the centerpiece of our tourism promotional programs and advertising campaigns in the years to come. It is in keeping up with the President’s philosophy of public-private partnership,” Lim said.
Lim also revealed that although the brand had elicited mixed reactions because of its radical departure from what is currently done by neighboring countries; it is relevant, distinctive, and believable.
“The real challenge is how to make the Philippines attain a competitive identity that differentiates it from what our neighbors are claiming to be. We need to be more daring in expressing our brand, if we are to rise above the clutter,” Lim said.
Lim is hopeful that by using the vernacular language for the tagline, every domestic and foreign tourist will tend to mouth the phrase in same way Hawaii has successfully popularized the expression “Aloha” in a global scale.
But before unveiling the brand concept and logo, the Tourism chief said the marketing campaign is still a work in progress.
“Before we commit to the production and placement of commercials, we would like to share the emerging new brand to everyone first. The Filipinos inputs in supporting and promoting the brand will help strengthen the brand even more,” Lim Said.
The brand, according to Undersecretary for Planning and Promotions Vicente Romano III, may still go through some refinements based on the feedbacks from market testing and Focus Group Discussions that will follow.
Brand activation programs and advertising campaigns will be developed and will be rolled out.

I THINK YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY FULL OF WONDERFUL AND BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE THAT ARE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL TO ALL THE WORLD THAT WANTS TO KNOW ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES. A GREAT FRIEND OF MINE (NAMED BETCHIE) DIRECTED ME TO YOUR WEBSITE. I THINK ANY NEW IDEA IS WORTH TRYING AND I HOPE THIS NEW SLOGAN WORKS IN MAKING YOUR ISLANDS AS MUCH OR MORE POPULAR THAN HAWAII.
DAPAT PILIPINAS KAY BONGGA!
in my opinion "wow Philippines" is better than "PILIPINAS KAY GANDA"
in promoting our tourism i think that name is hard to understand for the other country. But of course the more important is how they encourage or believe the tourist that Philippines is really beautiful and peaceful country, after the Chinese bus tragedy that happened in our own country.
and correct its look more politics at work.
Well the government should take a lot of time on deciding for this, kasi malaking pera ang mailalabas nito, sayang naman ang pera kung ito ay hindi magtatagumpay...
ok naman pag gawa ng name..
PILIPINAS kay GANDA ......nice name......tama yon....:)))
I think the present dispensation should go ahead with WOW PHILIPPINES and just improve its package.
I heard Sec. Lim's justification, however, that DOT is just introducing new brand name as WOW PHILIPPINES has not done much in the country's tourism industry. Lim further cited βPilipinas Kay Gandaβ as reflective of the optimism being represented by the new administration.
IS IT NOT THAT THE ULTIMATE REASON FOR DROPPING WOW PHILIPPINES SIMPLY TO GET RID OF "PGMA TINT?"
Politics at work again.
--- Marketing experts won't agree changing brand name would make one's product saleable.
--- Changing and dropping seemingly a craze in Aquino administration, like baby James is now Bembi (nay)!
Funny Philippines!
pretty weak.. ok naman ung logo..kaya lang pano naman mapaparating sa ibang bansa na maganda ang pilipinas....
sa PANGALAN pa lang di na maintindihan T_T
anu-ano nga ba ang maganda sa bansa natin?
The slogan "Pilipinas Kay Ganda for me sounds "Baduy". In fact, my 5 year year old Nephew, Nico, asked me one time kung ano ba daw totoo na ang Pilipinas ay pagmamay ari ni Vice Ganda as the slogan literally implies. He is a fan of Vice Ganda in his program Showtime.
"WOW Philippines" is already very much okay and appropriate. The only problem was that, it was not properly projected by just showing the scenic spots.
I suggest to make it more striking, Why not put in the scene a Beautiful young Lady and a very handsome person as if saying the slogan. By that way, it looks as though they both endorse the place having gone to it.
And not just a Pinay or Pinoy, have it a Foreigner to appear that they have gone to the Philippines, visited the beautiful places and is now endorsing to the other nationals to try visiting the place in the Philippines.
TRY IT! There is no better endorsers of the Philippines abroad but those who are from abroad who came here so that they are the factual references of what we are selling as nice places here in the Philippines.

y we cannot try THE PHILIPPINES! DBA QUESTIONABLE?
Humm.. why not Fabulous Philippines?
What is the plural of "feedback?"
"AWESOME PHILIPPINES"
for me i will suggest..." AWESOME PHILIPPINES" its more better. because not only the beauty of the philippines, but the talents of every filipino liked manny pacquaio, charice, lea salonga, arnel pineda. and many more. thats why, AWESOME PHILIPPINES!
this is somewhat a very weak approach to increase the image of our tourism industry for it has no international impact to attract more tourists to come and visit our beloved country....
why not quote and use the first phrase of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal when describing our country as the PEARL OF THE ORIENT SEAS and add some packaging words on it as such...
The Philippines....PEARL OF THE ORIENT SEAS ...where fun and opportunities abound!
such a strong packaging phrase would make our country more attractive to lure more tourists and investors alike to come and invest in our country we loved...trully the surprise package of Asia Pacific!
Mabuhay Philippines! should be more appropriate if we are to mimic "Aloha" of Hawaii. It is bery filipino and easy to remember.
baduy!...sobra.

'Pilipinas Kay ganda'
Question: Pilipinas, Game ka na nga ba?
What needs to be repackaged are the people who will make this country "beautiful"...not just the slogan!
DOT is assuming that everyone knows Tagalog. The fact is that not all Filipinos know the language much less the tourists from around the world. Since most tourists speak or the very least understand English then why not just adopt the logo "Philippines the Beautiful". A couple more pointers for the Philippine Tourist Industry. Those in the industry with upfront contact with the guests have to learn how to be more outgoing, proactive in demeanor, more responsive and outwardly jovial. Not the morose, straight faced, reserved, shy, quiet and unresponsive response when welcoming guests.
I think "Pilipinas Kay Ganda" is not a suitable tagline for the global market. Its too local. It won't work because most people from around the world does not even know the Philippines well. Why not coming up with a brand that has more global appeal at the same time depicting the innate warmth hospitality, caring and friendliness of Filipinos. Why not "Tender, Loving, Care Philippines" or "TLC Philippines" as tagline. International tourists are already aware of the natural beauty our country has, but the most important aspect is the beauty from within the Filipinos that tourists are attracted most.
I really love the Philippines. Friendly people, hospitable. But I really got bad experiences in the Philippines. Starting from the Imigration Officers to the Bureau of Customs. When exiting the airport a lot of persons will try to get your bag. Peace and order is really getting worst, corruption from the traffic aide to the traffic police.Really a big mess.
I hope that this new packaging about the Philippine tourism will succeed. Maganda talaga ang Pilipinas, it has all the package for a perfect travel relaxation but please do something with the safety of the tourists which is the main issue in traveling the Philippines. From going outside the airport to where the tourists want to explore the Philippines. Make their stay and exploration to the 7,100 islands amazing and marvelous. Sana mag effort pa ang ating gobyerno para naman tuloy tuloy na ang pag unlad ng ating pinakamamahal na Pilipinas.
