CDC enforces new wage order

CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has informed all locators inside the Clark Freeport that Wage Order R.B. III-15 that provides an additional amount to the Cost of Living Allowance (CoLA) of employees must be enforced.

CDC President Ben R. Ricafort, in a memorandum to all Clark locators, said: “Wage Order R.B. III-5, which was approved last Oct. 18, 2010 by the Regional Tripartite Wage Board which provides among others under Sec. 1 hereof that ‘upon effectivity of this Wage Order, the P10 CoLA under Wage Order No. RB III-14 shall be integrated into the basic pay.’”

Ricafort added that “A new CoLA of P14 per day shall be granted to all minimum wage earners in the region.” (Franco G. Regala)

COPS RESCUE 28 MINORS

CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan, Philippines — At least 28 girls working at an alleged prostitution den were rescued as Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives raided the establishment in Abucay and arrested six suspects operating it the other night. Chief Inspector Rogarth B. Campo, CIDG Bataan chief, said the 28 girls rescued were all minors.

Campo said those arrested will be charged criminally for operating the Double P sisters KTV bar on Gumpay Street, Barangay Gabon, which allegedly offers the girls to male customers for sex. (Mar T. Supnad)

ANTI-NARCOTICS AGENTS NAB 4

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan, Philippines — Bricks of dried marijuana and several grams of suspected “shabu” were confiscated by police in separate buy-bust operations the other day in the towns of Obando and Baliuag and in the city of Malolos.

Arrested in were Ryan Pablo Maglaya Antonio, alias “Gabo,” 27, of Obando; Richard Villoria Reyes, 35, of Malanday, Valenzuela City; Arvie Mendoza Cruz, 27, of Tondo, Manila; Arvin Ives Galman de Jesus, 32, single, an employee of the Malolos City Hall and resident of Malolos City.

Senior Supt. Fernando S. Villanueva, Bulacan police director, said the team of Chief Inspector Lorenzo B. Paynor, Obando police chief, caught Antonio at 2:05 o,n, Thursday after peddling marijuana to a poseur-buyer. Reyes, on the other hand, yielded a quarter of a kilo of dried marijuana leaves in a follow-up operation.

In Baliuag, anti-narcotics operatives busted Cruz, who allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu in an operation in Barangay Tarcan. De Jesus was arrested after allegedly selling a sachet of shabu to a police undercover agent in Malolos City. (Freddie C. Velez)

2-YEAR RAPE CASE MOVES

STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna, Philippines — Three men wanted for raping a 22-year-old girl two years ago were arrested and charged in simultaneous police operations conducted in two villages, here, on Wednesday, the local chief of police reported Friday.

Supt. Ismael Fernandez, Sta. Rosa City chief of police identified the suspects as Angelo Libreja, 23, native of Camarines Sur and resident of Maria Jesusa Subdivision; Rey Isar, 24, of Honorville Subdivision, both from Barangay Pooc, here; and Roman Abrera, 23, employee of FORD Motors Phils, and resident of Barangay Don Jose, this city. The rape happened at the house of Libreja in Barangay Pooc on Aug. 4, 2008.

Abrera was quoted by Fernandez as saying that he invited the victim, identified only as “Margie,” on a drinking spree but denied allegations that she was raped. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
