Mon Confiado 'attacks' a role

Award-winning character actor Mon Confiado is very passionate when acting is the subject.
Whenever he accepts a movie project, he always does a “character sketch” – the looks, the wardrobe, manner of speech and body movement that’s apt for his character.
He has a bagful of “antics:” beard, wig, prosthetics, dentures and the skinhead look.
“I want to experiment in every character I play. I want the viewers to see a different person every time, not the same Mon Confiado, the actor. I try to be as natural as possible. I don’t want going overboard.”
He played a deranged gay in “Pilantik,” where he wore woman’s dresses with relish and flair.
In “Pirata” by Jon Red, he plays a gangster, and nemesis to Ronnie Lazaro. He had a different wardrobe and wore a moustache. His speech pattern was calculated – his role being a man of few words.
Mon is a suspected killer in “Zamora Residence” by Direk Carlo Alvarez. The role and the movie has a unique twist. He plays the role in a non-stereotypical manner.
In an international movie by Cesar Apolinario, Mon plays an inmate for which he deliberately lost weight to make him look pathetic.
In the horror film “Corazon” by Richard Somes, and produced by Star Cinema, he plays best friend to Derek Ramsay who lost a daughter to a vampire believed to be a kin of Derek’s, played by Erich Gonzales.
In the now showing “Ang Babae sa Sementeryo” by Neal Tan, he plays a grave digger who moonlights as a pimp. For the role, he dirtied himself to look stinking and unwashed.
In “Deadline” by Joel Lamangan, he is a family man who’s a hired killer. He didn’t want to be a stereotypical hired killer, so he studied the Maguindanao dialect.
In Siegfreid Barros Sanchez’ “Tsardyer,” part of the 2010 Cinema One Originals filmfest, Mon plays a cameraman, who is kidnapped along with a TV host played by Dimples Romana.
Mon has his moment in the scene that he’s to be beheaded.
“I believe that being a character actor is a profession that needs thorough preparation. I enjoy character changes in every role I accept. And I’m happy that I have been getting very challenging roles…”
Because of Mon’s dedication to his work, it’s not surprising that directors want him in their indie films. It’s not doubtful either if he joins the ranks of the country’s most awarded and respected character actors: Ronnie Lazaro, Bembol Roco, Mark Gil, Penn Medina, Joel Torre, and Eddie Garcia.

Wacky BNO DJs serious about oral care
The threesome of Tony Toni, Slick Rick, and Sam YG – who have entertained thousands of listeners with their playful and often naughty banter in their show “Boys Night Out (BNO),” which has become one of the most popular shows on local nighttime FM radio. They’re a testament to the adage that, indeed, boys will be boys.
Despite their wacky and naughty boy antics on-air, however, the BNO dudes get serious about their grooming and hygiene.
“Being a radio personality and a media professional puts you in close contact with lots of people. They could be fans. They could be colleagues, friends, or potential clients.
“As media personalities, we can’t avoid relating to people. It would be a major blunder to be sloppy in our appearance, but it’s even worse if we have poor oral hygiene,’’ says Slick Rick.
“For us, our ‘breath’ is our livelihood. It affects how people perceive us,” says Tony Toni.
“We talk to people everyday. It’s our business; it’s our job. And in dealing with people, you always want to make sure you leave a good impression,” Sam YG, the self-described nerd of the group, explains.
“If you have bad breath, people will say you have low standards of personal hygiene, then it’s a domino effect na,” Tony Toni adds.
To the three of them, oral hygiene has paramount importance to their everyday lives.
“Right after waking up, I have to brush my teeth to ensure I have fresh breath even though I don’t have anyone with me at home. After I eat, I brush again, then floss. Then I take a shower and after that, mouthwash before I leave the house,” shares Slick Rick
Which is why, among their stock of hygiene products, the boys rank their mouthwash right near the top. Knowing the importance of using a mouthwash, the BNO DJs literally took pains to find the right brand for them, OraCare.
Good oral hygiene spells success at work, in romance and any situation. As Boys Night Out found out, For them, OraCare is clearly the smarter choice.
