Halsema waste campaign up
TUBLAY, Benguet, Philippines – The massive information drive for proper waste disposal on Halsema Highway is targeting to reach about 5,000 motorists, travelers and passengers traversing one of the major thoroughfares in Cordillera region.
In an environmental forum, groups were clustered into four and stationed at strategic locations in Ambassador in Tublay; Pali or Highest Point in Sayangan; Atok, Pakpakitan, Natubleng in Buguias; and in the area of Sinto, which is the boundary of Benguet and Mt. Province to halt more than a thousand vehicles to warn them against throwing trash on the highway.
Mass transport vehicles were also provided with trash bins so that passengers will not throw their wastes outside the window. (Dexter A. See)

CENTRAL LUZON, Philippines – The first batch of the modified Special Counter-Insurgency Operation Unit Training (SCOUT) program graduated with nine female and 91 male members now highly-trained for police anti-insurgency operations in Central Luzon.
Chief Inspector Karen Clark, Public Information Officer of the Police Regional Office 3 based at Camp Olivas, Pampanga, said their completion of the SCOUT Training under Superintendent Melchor Reyes and Chief Inspector Alex Apolonio, is a big boost to the PRO’s anti-insurgency campaign.

FOREIGNER JAILED OVER SHOOTING
PAMPANGA, Philippines – Police arrested a foreigner who was tagged as responsible for shooting to death a countryman in Angeles City, Pampanga the other day. Another Chinese national was wounded during the incident.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, Jr., spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), identified the victims as Shahani Co, who succumbed to bullet wounds in the body, and Zeng Hua Quiang, who was hit on the hand.
The suspect, Cruz said, was identified as 48-year- old Wang Yang Zhen, adding that the incident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. Monday inside the Villa Number 3406 of the Fontana Leisure in Clark Field, Pampanga.
Senior Superintendent Danilo Bautista, director of the Angeles City Police, said Co went to the rented unit of the suspect reportedly to demand for the payment of the latter’s debt. (Aaron B. Recuenco)
WOUNDED WOMAN LOSES UNBORN CHILD
STA. CRUZ, Laguna, Philippines – An unborn child being carried by a woman who survived a knife attack in Pagsanjan recently, died Monday at a hospital here. Senior Inspector Luis Perez, Pagsanjan chief of police said the four-month-old fetus in the womb of Grace Capistrano died at about 6 a.m. Monday after she prematurely gave birth.
Capistrano, a witness in a robbery-extortion case in Cainta, survived an attempt on her life when P02 Mario A. Natividad and PO1 Antenor M. Mariquit allegedly attacked her last Thursday in Barangay Pinagsajan, Pagsanjan, Laguna. Capistrano has stood witness against the two policemen in a robbery-extortion case.
