2 hurt, 1 missing at building site
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A construction worker remains missing while two others were injured after a portion of their construction site caved-in in Barangay Bakakeng Norte here Saturday.
The missing construction worker was identified by Senior Superintendent David Q. Lacdan, director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), as Aris Javier, 20 and a native of Umingan, Pangasinan while the injured construction workers were Rezalde Pajarillo, 20 and Pepito Baluga, 25, both employees of the FGU Construction company.
Initial police investigation showed the construction workers were reportedly busy removing the scaffoldings of the foundation of an eight-storey student condominium when apparent loose soil at the construction site gave way and buried them. (Dexter A. See)
NATIVIDAD HEADS REGION 3 R.P.O.C.
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Philippines — Mayor Christian D. Natividad of this city was elected as representative in all component cities regionwide in the election of Regional Peace and Order Councils (RPOCs) held recently at Red Rickshaw, Barangay Sindalan, San Fernando City, Pampanga.
The RPOC general meeting was presided by Chief Superintendent Alan La Madrid Purisima, Police Regional Office 3 director and RPOC vice chairman.
Natividad’s election in the RPOC will cover the years of his term as city mayor, representing mayors in all component cities in Central Luzon and work to gain positive in maintaining regional peace and order. (Freddie C. Velez)
PANGASINAN SETS CHESS TOURNEYS
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, Philippines – The provincial government announced over the weekend its plan to make chess competitions a regular event. Governor Amado Espino Jr. said chess tournaments will soon be a regular sports activity next year, following the recent successful staging of the 1st Pangasinan Chess Festival from Nov. 24 to 27 at the Provincial Library, here.
The governor said the chess tournaments will be conducted twice a year, one in summer and another in December, to harness the potential of young woodpushers in the province. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
BULACAN PUSHES S.H.I.N.E. IN SCHOOLS
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Philippines – Provincial officials led by Governor Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando will launch the 1st School Hydrological Information Network (SHINE) Conference, an innovative program geared towards enhancing disaster awareness of the school populace and prevent loss of life and protect property by achieving and maintaining a high-level of school preparedness on Monday.

W.W.2 VINTAGE BOMBS FOUND
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — At least four sacks of assorted World War II vintage bombs, grenades and ammunitions were dug up by police operatives and construction workers in a construction site along Tavera Street, South Driver here Saturday following reports from several workers on the initial discovery of the explosives while they were trying to dig a proposed sewerage facility of a structure.
Senior Superintendent David Q. Lacdan, director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), said the find consisted of dozens of small vintage bombs, Japanese hand grenades, rounds for mortars and bazooka, and ammunition packs. (Dexter A. See)
