C.A.R. NEEDS ROAD RANGERS
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC) here wants the national government to provide increased funding for the hiring of supposed road rangers or employees who will protect national roads and waterways from unscrupulous individuals from encroaching into identified road-right-of-way to ensure the protection of the general public.
In the recent budget review and execution between the RDC-CAR and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the RDC-CAR cited that P5 million was a measly provision for the hiring of road rangers.
The RDC noted that road rangers play a crucial role in arresting rampant encroachment and squatting on disputed areas of national roads and waterways which greatly affect the flow of vehicular traffic and constrict the rivers and river systems that often result to calamities such as flooding.
