'Evil Dead Rise' will terrify and stress you out—in a good way

"Evil Dead" fans will be satisfied with this new addition to the franchise

Cheese graters; it's a mundane household item, but with the application of horror elements, can be used by filmmakers to chilling effect. No spoilers, but that kitchen implement will be used to ghastly, cringey results in the latest iteration of the "Evil Dead" franchise. Coming this May 10 as part of Ayala Mall's A-List Series is "Evil Dead Rise," from the iconic Evil Dead film franchise. The much anticipated horror movie will exclusively be released in Ayala Malls. The film starts with two sisters reunited. Beth (played by Lilly Sullivan) visits her older sister Ellie (Alyssa Sutherland), together with her children in LA.  Shortly upon Beth’s arrival, an earthquake popped open a hole in their garage. The hole, of course, leads to an underground chamber which contains the true star of the Evil Dead franchise - the Book of the Dead, also known as "The Necronomicon" to fans. .jpg] Being an Evil Dead movie, of course someone reads from that accursed book; and, of course, evil spirits, and demon possessions will ensue—that's part of the fun when watching the movie. You already know what's gonna happen, truth be told, but the surprises will come with how the new movie team will treat the much beloved source material. Suffice it to say, horror and gore fans will be much satisfied with this remake - carnage and blood are aplenty in this new flick. This is to be expected, since original Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi and the iconic actor Bruce Campbell (who played Ash, the first protagonist in the franchise) are the executive producers of "Evil Dead Rise." They are also joined by filmmaker Lee Cronin, and the trio take the saga to new places (and heights) with the new movie. .jpg] Lee Cronin shared to the media his thoughts about the movie, “I hope audiences are going to love the horror, because first and foremost, when you make a horror movie, you want it to be scary and entertaining. I think moviegoers will enjoy the visual verve and restlessness of the movie when it really gets going, along with the fresh experience—this is very much an ‘Evil Dead’ movie, but it’s really in the here and now. And hopefully, it will be an entry point into an even greater ‘Evil Dead’ universe than the one we know to date. I think great horror is something that you watch and then it follows you home, when you turn the lights out.
