Suspect in fatal shooting still at large
MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City Police continued their manhunt on Wednesday against the suspects in the fatal shooting of barangay councilman Reynaldo Dagsa, an act captured on the victim’s camera while he was taking the picture of his wife, daughter and mother outside their house on New Year’s Day.
Senior Supt. Jude W. Santos, Caloocan City Police chief, said Chief Insp. Cris Galvez, chief of the intelligence division of the Caloocan City Police, had formed a team to track down the whereabouts of the suspects identified as Arnel Buenaflor, Michael Rolyon, 27; and Frederick Sales, 29.
Police report said two other suspects identified as Rommel Oliva, alias Balong, and Francis Bronjal, who both served as the lookouts of the gunman, were arrested in a follow-up operations. Police said charges are also being prepared against three other suspects in connection with the killing of the barangay official.
Santos said the victim was celebrating New Year’s Day with his family last Jan. 1 when Buenaflor, the alleged gunman, shot him while the victim was taking the picture of his family.
The picture showed Buenaflor aiming his gun against Dagsa.
Police said Buenaflor allegedly took revenge against the barangay official who allegedly shot him when the latter allegedly barged and robbed Dagsa’s house in Barangay 35, Maypajo in November last year.
