Ynares treats kids to a movie
RIZAL PROVINCE, Philippines — About a hundred kids coming from various day care centers all over the province and their parents were treated recently by Rizal Gov. Casimiro ‘Junjun’ Ynares III to a free movie showing of the top grosser film, “Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote” which starred the governor’s brother-in-law, Sen. Bong Revilla and Vic Sotto.
The group of children and their parents who were transported from this province all the way to SM Mega Mall Cinema 9 in Mandaluyong City recently, had the privileged watching the movie ahead of the regular screening schedule, it was learned Friday from the provincial government’s public information office.
The movie, an official entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), is co-produced by Imus Productions, which is also headed by Governor Jun’s wife, Andrea, who is the sister of Senator Revilla. (Nel B. Andrade)
TANZA ASSIGNED NEW POLICE CHIEF
TANZA, Philippines – The chief of police (CoP) of Tanza town was relieved Friday following the fatal mauling of an inmate inside the police station jail recently.
Senior Supt. Danilo L. Maligalig, Cavite Police Provincial Office (CPPO) director, designated Supt. Joseph S. Javier as Tanza police officer-in-charge (OIC) as replacement for Supt. Eduardo M. Sangque who has been in the position for only several months.
Maligalig ordered the administrative relief of Sangque after a detainee was reportedly beaten to death by three inmates inside the Tanza municipal police jail just recently.
Sangque was reassigned as chief of the CPPO Community Relations Division, a unit that was held by Javier for only three days. Javier was the OIC of Cavite City police, prior to his reassignment to CPPO-CRD. (Anthony Giron)
DAGUPAN READIES BANGUS FESTIVAL
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — The city government is now busy with preparations for the upcoming celebration of the Bangus Festival 2011.
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim said activities are being lined up by the interim executive committee for the festival, headed by Maximo Tan, Alex Siapno and City Tourism Office chief Rose Teng Mejia.
The main events of the festival, including the Kalutan ed (Ihawan sa) Dagupan, is likely to take place at its original venue – the downtown stretch of A. B. Fernandez Avenue.
Lim hopes activities such as the festival will help realize his vision to expand the bangus industry and have a processing plant in the city. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
BAGAC POLICE SCORE VS CRIME
BAGAC, Bataan, Philippines — Police reported Friday the arrest of a suspected carnapper and two illegal loggers in their renewed campaign against criminality and “environmental terrorist” in Bataan.
Senior Supt. Arnold D. Gunnacao, Bataan police director, reported that Francing Apristo, 53 and Dante Apristo of Barangay Paysawan, here, were caught in the act of illegally cutting logs in Lingua area, Sitio Duhat, Barangay Saysain by the team led by Senior Inspector George T. Santiago.
Gunnacao said the suspects yielded a chainsaw and around 500 board feet of illegally cut logs. In Barangay Sisiman, Mariveles town, Supt. Romell Velasco, chief of police, also reported the arrest of one Arnel Garcia in whose possession a motorcycle stolen some time ago in Baseco Compound, Tondo, Manila was found. All three suspects are now jailed, awaiting the filing of appropriate charges. (Mar T. Supnad)
