Set to start the new year with a bang is Asia’s premiere vocal group, The CompanY which, in the spirit of gratitude, is presenting a thanksgiving concert aptly entitled “The CompanY at 25: Isang Pasasalamat” on Jan. 21 (Friday) and 22 (Saturday) at 8 p.m. at The Sanctuary of Word for the World Christian Fellowship, ACCM Building, 102 Valero St., Salcedo Village, Makati City. Tickets are now available at SM Ticketnet.

This enduring and versatile vocal quintet composed of Annie Quintos, Moy Ortiz, Cecile Bautista, Sweet Plantado, and Jay Marquez have much to be thankful for given the banner year they had just experienced. 2010 was the year The CompanY celebrated their 25th anniversary with a hit album entitled “Lighthearted” from Viva Records and a sold-out concert series at the Music Museum billed as “CO.25.”

“The CompanY at 25: Isang Pasasalamat” is an all-OPM (Original Pilipino Music) concert celebration that showcases the best hit songs and most competent vocal interpreters of this much beloved music genre. The concert’s special guests include OPM’s legendary icon Mr. Basil Valdez, Asia’s Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista and grand winner of “Little Big Star’s” Season 1 Big Division Sam Concepcion – all of whom shall be singing their respective hit songs and musical production numbers with The CompanY.

For their part, The CompanY’s repertoire will run the breadth and length of OPM in its various forms – from jazz to classical, from musical theater to folk music, from pop to doo-wop, from acoustic to electronica, from a cappella to symphonic. A highlight of the show will be the 20-minute medley entitled “Hits Musicale” that will feature all original hit songs of The CompanY to be presented in the form of a short musical play. “Hits Musicale” was staged by two-time Palanca Award winner, Floy Quintos.

“The CompanY at 25: Isang Pasasalamat” is brought to you by Beginnings at Twenty Plus and Star Express – two true-blue OPM advocates who gave us the highly successful Ogie Alcasid-Ryan Cayabyab PICC Concert entitled “OC at the PICC” and “Last Valentine’s nAPO nila” of the APO Hiking Society last February 2010, and Word for the World Christian Fellowship.

Beth Martin will be the shows’ musical director. The show is conceptualized, written and directed by The CompanY’s artistic director, Moy Ortiz. Wardrobe and costumes are designed and executed by Joey Samson. Sherwin Cervantes does hair and make up. Jewelry pieces are by Arnel Papa. This concert series is a fund-raising project for the benefit of Word for the World.

“This is the very first time we are going OPM all the way in a concert. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that has OPM so many colors, textures, styles and rhythms,” says Moy Ortiz.

Page Jeans looks for new faces

It is recalled that the first ever celebrity endorser of the popular apparel line Page Jeans Int’l was Katarina Perez, the cute teeny bopper of the defunct “Idol Ko Si Kap” on GMA-7.

Then came the first nationwide search for Page image model which resulted to thousands of hopefuls lining up in front of the Pasig headquarters of Page Jeans. It was indeed a blast, producing five official image models, including the current ABS-CBN Star Magic talent Jubail Andres.

The second year of Page image model search was truly star studded, not to mention PBB top winner Ejay Falcon, as one of the hopefuls and GMA-7’s “Starstruck” Jackie Rice but nevertheless, the second batch include Bernice Tan, one of the members of Kris Aquino’s 26K girls and ABS-CBN and “Fear Factor’s” finalist and now GMA-7’s ”komedyana,” Jana Dominguez, who emerged as the top winner.

The third batch was more exciting because even popular faces in the modelling world tried their luck to be the next image model of Page Jeans Int’l. This batch included Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 grand winner and celebrity edition housemate Zara Aldana and Bela Padilla, who emerged as runner-up.

The Page Jeans endorsers have evolved into a sing and dance group called The Page Xclusive, which came out with a CD under Galaxy Records.

Currently, the daughter of Robin Padilla, Queenie, is the endorser of Page Jeans International 2010.

Page Jeans is now in search of new faces.

Visit any Page jeans outlet nationwide for inquiry.

Screening and audition schedules will be announced on leading newspapers and radio programs.
