Senior citizen, 2 others nabbed in Pasay sting
Three drug suspects including a senior citizen were arrested in a buy-bust operation by anti-narcotics operatives in Pasay City before midnight on Tuesday.
The three were identified by police as Anjo Esperanza, 23; Joseph Esperamza, 21; and Gloria Lim, 62. All are residents of P. Dandan St., Barangay 51, Zone 8, Pasay City.
According to Police Insp. Ronaldo Frades, members of the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) conducted the operation at around 11:45 p.m. at P. Dandan St., Barangay 51, Zone 8, Pasay City.
An undercover police officer was able to purchase P100 worth of illegal drugs from the suspects which led to their arrest.
SDET operatives seized five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected dried marijuana leaves and two heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu.
The confiscated illegal drugs have an estimated street value of P1,000.
Cases for violation of Sections 5, 11, and 26 of Article 2 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the three suspects. (Dhel Nazario)
16-year-old stabbed dead due to noise complaint in QC
A man was arrested after he stabbed to death a 16-year-old boy when got irked with the noise made by the victim and his friends while eating near his house in Quezon City on Tuesday morning.
Investigators of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the suspect as Andresito Bangkig, 52, a resident of Barangay Central, while the victim as Randy Bermas, of Barangay Pagasa, both pedicab drivers in their neighborhood.
Initial investigation showed that Bermas was eating lunch with his friends near the suspect's shanty in front of Philippine Blood Center at Quezon Avenue in Barangay Central around 11:30 a.m.
Bangkig, who was resting inside his house, suddenly woke up to the loud chatting of the victim and his friend which irked him.
Witnesses say the suspect went out of the house and shouted at the minors who also got irritated and shouted back resulting in a scuffle.
During the fistfight, Bangkig got hold of a kitchen knife and suddenly stabbed the minor victim on the chest causing him to fall on the ground where he eventually died.
The incident was immediately reported to authorities of QCPD Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) who apprehended Bangkig. A kitchen knife was then recovered from his possession.
Bangkig is now under custody of QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and will be charged for murder. (Alexandria San Juan)
Man gunned down inside Caloocan canteen
A technician was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while inside a canteen in Caloocan City on Monday afternoon.
Police Inspector Joe Mar Ronquillo, Caloocan City Police Station Investigation Unit chief, identified the victim as Ferdinand Pascual, 47, resident of the area.
Investigation showed that the incident occurred inside a canteen along Llano Road, Barangay 167, in Caloocan City. According to the police report, a certain Jomar Gripal was eating at the said canteen when he heard a gunshot
Upon checking, he saw the victim bloodied and lying on the ground as the gunman took the victim’s bag before speeding off onboard a motorcycle.
Ronquillo said that they are eyeing robbery as a possible motive behind the killing since the gunman took the victim’s bag after the incident.
However, investigators have yet to determine the contents of the victim’s bag.

Suspect in Cainta rape case, caught in Quezon City
The suspect who allegedly raped and attempted to kill a nine-year-old girl who was found tied up and bleeding under a bridge in Cainta, Rizal last Monday was arrested by the police in Quezon City.
Joint personnel from Quezon City Police and Cainta Police nabbed in a follow-up operation the suspect identified as Pepito Tagal, 39, a resident of J.P. Rizal St., Project 4, in Barangay San Roque, Cubao.
The operation was conducted by Quezon City Police Station 7 led by PSupt Giovanni Caliao and Cainta Municipal Police headed by PSupt Alvin Ruby Consolacion after obtaining information from a witness and based on the testimony of the victim.
Police say Tagal's wife also informed them on his whereabouts leading to the arrest of the suspect who was sleeping inside a tricycle at Nicolas Compound in Boni Serrano Avenue near corner 20th Avenue Brgy. San Roque around 11:51 p.m. Tuesday.
A witness pointed Tagal as the same person who abducted the Grade 3 student around 9 a.m. on Monday at Sitio Batasin in Brgy. San Juan, Taytay, Rizal.
Earlier reports said the victim was found by a concerned citizen hogtied, bruised and bloodied under Mapandan Bridge along Ortigas Avenue Extension in Brgy. San Juan, Cainta which was suspected to be a hideout of illegal drug users in the area.
The suspect was brought to Women and Children Protection Desk of the Cainta Municipal Police Station and might face charges of Rape and violation of Republic Act 7610 or Child Abuse Law. (Alexandria San Juan)
