7 suspects nabbed in 24-hour anti- illegal drugs operations
Seven drug suspects including two siblings were nabbed in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Quezon City within 24 hours.
First to fall in the drug bust conducted by personnel of Quezon City Police District's Masambong Police Station (PS-2) were Jennifer Maickel, 32, and her brother Gerardo Maickel, 26, at Pampanga Street in Barangay Sto. Cristo around 5:40 p.m., Friday.
Police said the siblings were both included in the drug watchlist of PNP's Directorate for Intelligence and were involved in illegal drug peddling in their area.
Seized from them were four sachets of shabu worth P6,800, a mobile phone used in their transactions and the buy-bust money.
The same operatives from PS-2 also arrested in a separate buy-bust operation Albert Samaritana, 30, of Caloocan City and Victor Martinez, 54, of Barangay Ramon Magsaysay who were both newly-identified drug personalities of the station.
Members of PS-2 Drug Enforcement Unut transacted with the duo in front of a house at Nueva Ecija Street in Barangay Ramon Magsaysay around 8:40 p.m. and confiscated from them three sachets of shabu resulting in their arrest.
In another buy-bust in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, PS-2 anti-narcotics authorities also nabbed Cristina Moreno, 53, and Ann Ting, 25, at Road 11 Street around 8:15 p.m. after yielding two sachets of shabu.
The arrest of the two women stemmed from a report of a concerned citizen who tipped police off their illegal drug activity.
Further investigation showed that Moreno was included in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watch-list while Ting is a newly identified drug personality.
Meanwhile, personnel of Kamuning Police Station (PS-10) collared Nigel Rayven, 34, in a drug sting along Kamuning Road near corner Scout Ybardolaza at about 3 a.m. Saturday.
Officers confiscated from Rayven two sachets of shabu and the buy-bust money which led to his arrest.
The suspects are now under police custody and will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Alexandria San Juan)
Laborer shot dead while asleep
A construction worker was gunned by down by two armed men while he was sleeping inside his house in Parañaque City on Friday.
Police identified the victim as Jerson Poliquit, 31, of Riverside 2, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque.
Meanwhile, the suspects identified by the police as Rodel Vinzon, of Barangay Cabuco, Trece Martires, Cavite and Queen Cindy Florez, of Riverside 2, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque.
Initial investigation revealed that around 6 a.m., the suspects barged into the house of Poliquit in Riverside 2, Barangay Tambo.
Martinez and Florez shot the victim several times in the head, probers said.
Poliquit was reportedly lying beside his live-in partner, Marivic Manosa, when the incident happened. She was unharmed.
After the suspects left, Manosa immediately rushed her live-in partner to Ospital ng Paranaque City, but Poliquit was declared dead on arrival.
Seized from the crime scene were three spent shells of a suspected .22 caliber firearm.
The live-in partner of Poliquit told cops that he had no known enemies.
Police are now conducting a follow-up operation to apprehend the suspects. (Dhel Nazario)
Taxi operator, driver shot dead in QC
A taxi service operator and an applicant driver were shot dead in broad daylight by still unidentified gunmen in Quezon City on Saturday morning.
Quezon City Police District's Batasan Police Station (PS-6) chief, Lt. Col. Joel Villanueva, indentified the victims as Jordan So, 45, and Roger Soquita, both residents of Barangay Payatas.
Authorities said So was an operator of Quad Core taxi service while Soquita was applying as a cab driver.
Based on initial report, So and Soquita were in front of Quad Core office on the corner of St. Joseph Street and San Juan Bautista in Barangay Payatas around 8 a.m. when the incident happened.
Witnesses said that motorcycle-riding men suddenly appeared and repeatedly shot the unaware victims, killing them on the spot.
Police are now probing the incident to establish the motive behind the killing.
Further investigation is also underway to identify and locate the gunmen. (Alexandria San Juan)
