Limay hosts 1-day passport service
LIMAY, Bataan, Philippines — A total of 225 residents here applying jobs abroad, most of whom are Overseas Foreign Workers (OFW), benefitted from the one-day Mobile Pass-porting that was initiated by Mayor Ver Roque of this industrial town.
Roque said that he is also proposing to have the same Mobile Pass project in this town in June, noting that his town has several OFWs working in various countries in the world.
Aside from the mobile passport service, Roque is also eyeing an National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance service to assist locals applying for jobs here and abroad. (Mar T. Supnad)
DAGUPAN GETS 2 PATROL BIKES
DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — The city police’s anti-crime drive got a boost after a private firm donated two motorcycles to be used for the regular patrolling of the city’s business district.
Mayor Benjamin S. Lim received the donation from Mr. Guanzon Lo, vice president and general manager of Guanzon Group of Companies, during the opening of the Guanzon Festival Grand Leg at the public square last Friday.
Lim said the city police will use the patrol motorcycles particularly for going after notorious holdup duos riding-in-tandem on motorcycles. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
AQUINO FANS CAVITE PRIDE
IMUS, Cavite, Philippines — The Cavite Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) has thanked President Benigno S. Aquino III for appointing another Caviteño to an executive position.
Vice Governor and SP Presiding Officer Recto M. Cantimbuhan and the 17-man board also expressed support for Dr. Emmanuel M. Santiaguel who was recently designated by the President as chairman of Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
The appointment of Santiaguel, a native of this town, as CDA head automatically makes him Department of Finance (DoF) undersecretary. (Anthony Giron)
CASH GRANTS UP FOR 143 FAMILIES
RODRIGUEZ, Rizal, Philippines — Some 143 families here have already availed themselves of the five-year Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps of the municipal government, Mayor Cecilio Hernandez said Tuesday.
The family-beneficiaries, Hernandez said, are concentrated in Barangay Puray, one of the most depressed areas in the province and chosen through computerized selection by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The 4Ps will help provide proper nutrition for children, aged 0 to 14, by giving the families cash grant of P6,000 to P15,000 monthly. (Madelynne Dominguez)
S.B.M.A. RESCUERS REAP KALASAG PLUM
SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — A month after receiving an award from the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for outstanding contribution to public service, the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Fire and Rescue Group was conferred the 2010 Gawad Kalasag Award for emergency response and public assistance.
The award was received at Camp Aguinaldo by SBMA fire chief Ranny Magno from Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesus Robredo, chairman of the National Selection Committee for the award, and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, chairman of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
