A different role for Richard in 'My Valentine Girls'
Richard Gutierrez, who’s been dubbed the “Valentine Box-Office King” for a valid reason (all his Valentine movies in the past have been box office hits), is coming up anew with a Valentine offering courtesy of GMA Films and Regal Entertainment. Entitled “My Valentine Girls,” the movie has Richard playing an entirely different role – as a novelist!
With Richard in the trilogy is the talented young Kapuso, Jillian Ward who topbilled the successful GMA-7’s Christmaserye entitled “Jillian: Namamamasko Po.” Jillian plays Richard’s sister and Cupid as he goes around searching for a girlfriend. He is also in the process of writing his next book, a trilogy of love stories.
In the episode “Soulmates,” Richard is teamed up with Rhian Ramos, a fashion stylist. Their story begins with a vehicular accident where Richard dies and appears to Rhian as a ghost to ask for help in going back to his family. Eventually, they get closer to each other but what could happen to them if Richard is but a ghost?
In “BBFF,” Richard co-stars with Survivor Philippines’ participant Solenn Heussaff and Lovi Poe. In the episode, Richard plays a lawyer who decides to propose to his best friend Solenn. But the latter prefers that they remain friends because of her belief on friendships turning into romantic relationships. Solenn then sets up Richard with Lovi Poe and the two hit it off.
The third episode is entitled “Gunaw,” which is an apocalyptic tale with ace comedienne Eugene Domingo playing leading lady to Richard. They are the only two human beings left on earth after a worldwide disaster.
Uge convinces Richard that they have a mission on earth – to procreate! Will Richard give in Uge’s wish for the sake of humankind?
Uge excitedly related that she has kissing scenes with Richard. Lucky girl! It is recalled that in her past projects, Uge has had the chance to pay lip service to some of the country’s most handsome and hunky leading men, including Dingdong Dantes and Diether Ocampo.
“My Valentine Girls” opens on Feb. 9 in theaters nationwide.

GMA News is 2010 most preferred news source
Based on 2010 Mega Manila ratings data from the more widely-recognized Nielsen TV Audience Measurement, GMA News clearly outclassed the competition and therefore is considered the viewers’ preferred news source in 2010.
It is noted that the Kapuso Network’s election coverage, “Eleksyon 2010,” posted a 5.1 Individual/People Rating average from May 10 to 11. Individual/People Ratings measures the number of “eyeballs” or actual number of people watching.
Based on Household Ratings, “Eleksyon 2010” posted 12.3 TV ratings average from May 10 to 11 primetime newscast, “24 Oras Eleksyon 2010” posted 33.7.
“Panata Sa Pagbabago” – GMA-7’s coverage of the inauguration of President Noynoy Aquino and Vice President Jejomar Binay – got a commanding 13.2 percent Individual/People Rating.
GMA-7’s SONA 2010 coverage was also a ratings winner, posting an 8.6 percent People Rating.
GMA Network’s flagship primetime newscast “24 Oras” – bannered by two of the most credible broadcasters, Mel Tiangco and Mike Enriquez – was clearly the viewers’ top primetime news source for 2010. People Ratings show “24 Oras” with a 2010 average of 12.9 rating points.
By the last quarter of 2010, despite the changes in the roster of news readers in its competitor and the launch hype surrounding TV5’s “Willing Willie,” viewers still preferred “24 Oras.” People Ratings weekday (Monday to Friday) average for Oct. 26 to Dec. 31, 2010 show “24 Oras” with 11.1 rating points.
“Saksi,” anchored by awarded broadcast journalists Arnold Clavio and Vicky Morales, solidified its position as the leading late-night newscast with an average of 4.4 rating points.
