If you are among those who are thinking "The Haunting Of Bly Manor," now streaming on Netflix, is just a mere rehash of "The Haunting Of Hill House," think again.
One of the stars of the film, Henry Thomas, who made a name as child actor in Steven Spielberg's film "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," maintained it is vastly different from "The Haunting Of Hill House," inasmuch as it explores the work of a different author and from a different time, which he believes makes it exciting and new.

But what about fans who wanted more of the Crain family from "Hill House?"
Henry said, "There are a lot of fans of 'Hill House' and I know, it's a bit much to ask them to jump into this new world we created for them after getting so engrossed with the Crain family but that story has been told and really there's nowhere to go from there. So 'Bly' is the new frontier."
Co-star Victoria Pedretti admitted they felt pressure given the success of "Hill House," though.

"You want to live up to expectations and you might even want to exceed those expectations but ultimately we tried to completely subvert those expectations," she said.
"All that said, you certainly don't want to bore people. You don't want to disappoint them so there is that need to do better," she added.
Henry expounded on the fact that "Bly Manor," very much like "Hill House," allows for characters that audiences will care for and deeply.
"I think this is a more 'humanistic' approach within the genre and, you know, fans respond to it. And that's kind of interesting. Because as actors and storytellers we can kind of do a lot more than what we were allowed to do before," he related.
"The Haunting Of Bly Manor" is set in 1980s England. After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry Wingrave (Henry) hires a young American nanny (Victoria) to care for his orphaned niece and nephew (Amelie Bea Smith, Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) at Bly Manor with the estate’s chef Owen (Rahul Kohli), groundskeeper Jamie (Amelia Eve) and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose (T’Nia Miller).
But all is not as it seems at the manor, and centuries of dark secrets of love and loss are waiting to be unearthed in this chilling gothic romance.
Victoria believes having cast members from "Hill House" join in on the film made her comfortable exploring "Bly Manor."
"I was really happy to see new people again and also have the opportunity to explore a completely different place, different character. There's the safety of the familiarity but also the challenge of all everything that is new," was how she put it.
