Arrested were Nasrudin Mantikayan, alias "Buts;" Ibrahim Hassan and Ampal Pala, all natives of Cotabato City.
Operatives from the National Capital Regional Police Office-Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (NCRPO-RDEU), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Northern Police District-Drug Enforcement Unit (NPD-DDEU) and Caloocan City Police Station-Drug Enforcement Unit (CCPS-SDEU) conducted the buy-bust operation at around 10:30a.m.
A police report said undercover agents finalized a deal with the suspects for 2 kilos of shabu.
After the transaction, police officers moved in and arrested the three men.
Philippine National Police chief Director Oscar Albayalde said the suspects have been operating in various parts of Metro Manila and Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon region for the last three years.
Recovered from the suspects were eight bags of shabu, several deposit slips, a white late model sedan and the marked money.
"Baka parte ng isang malaking Muslim organization 'yan (They may be part of a big Muslim drug organization)," said NCRPO Director Guillermo Eleazar.
Eleazar added that they are eyeing the possibility that the seized drugs came from the billions of pesos worth of shabu supposedly concealed in magnetic lifters that were shipped out of the Manila International Container Port (MICP).
"It is possible, but we will still conduct an investigation to find out where the drugs really came from. We will cooperate with PDEA," he said in Filipino.
The arrested suspects will be charged with violation of Section 5 in relation to Section 26 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
