DSWD gains entry to Tineg

BANGUED, Abra, Philippines — After several decades the Cordillera office of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the provincial government and concerned non-government organizations (NGOs), were able to bring Tineg into the national household targeting system and implement poverty alleviation programs.

Tineg is the region’s remotest town and known for series of election-related violence and incidents as well as the presence of insurgents where government officials and employees even received threats to their lives when they attempt to visit the area to bring the good news from their respective agencies over the past several decades. PAGSANJAN’S NEW POLICE CHIEF

PAGSANJAN, Laguna, Philippines — Police Senior Inspector Henry Villagonzalo is the new town’s chief of police, replacing Senior Inspector Luis Perez who served for more than two years.

Villagonzalo was the district supervisor of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Task Force (PAIDSOTF) before he assumed his post as the new Pagsanjan chief of police in a simple turnover ceremony held at the municipal hall, here, last Saturday afternoon.

46 COMPLETE B.P.A.T. TRAINING

CAMP BGEN OSCAR FLORENDO, Philippines — Forty-six members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) will complete their five-day training under the supervision of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) personnel Monday.

The trainees consisted of 19 BPAT members from Barangay Parian and 27 from the adjacent Barangay Madayegdeg.

The conduct of BPAT training is part of the institutionalization of the Barangay Peacekeeping Operations (BPKO), pursuant to the PNP’s “Bayanihan” comprehensive anti-crime strategy that seeks to empower all stakeholders to share in the responsibility of peacekeeping and order. (Liezle Basa Inigo)

BIRD CENSUS IN BALANGA

BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines — A total of 13,984 migratory birds of different species were counted in just one day by the representatives of the Balanga City Hall employees, the Wild Bird Club (WBC) of the Philippines, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and some foreign bird observers during the one-day Asian Waterbird Census conducted over the weekend.

Among the birds counted in Balanga’s coastal areas are Little Egrets, Purple Herons, Brahminy Kites, Peregrine Falcon, Chestnut Checked Starling, Common Green Shank, White Breasted Water Hens, Moor Hen, Rails, Wood Sandpiper, Rufous Necked Stint, Grey Heron, and species of Kingfishers, Flower Peckers and Sandpipers. CAVITE, Philippines – Movie and television personality Jolo Revilla has assured his attendance at Cavite Sangguniang Panlalawigan (Provincial Board) sessions after he was elected as executive vice president of the Liga ng mga Barangay sa Pilipinas (League of Barangay in the Philippines), his fifth position as barangay (village) official.
