Cavite prioritizes office automation
CAVITE, Philippines – Cavite will go hi-tech soon with the implementation of the computerized program within the next few months at the Capitol, the seat of provincial government.
Officials said that office automation is one of the set priorities of the provincial administration this year in a bid to fast track operations and services at the Capitol in Trece Martires City.
Provincial Information and Community Affairs Department Chief Jo-ann Nazareno-Loyola said that Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla Jr. has been meeting with the concerned agencies and departments for the implementation of the automated system in their turf.
“Modernization is one of the priorities of the administration, the governor wanted it going, firstly with the computerization program set at the Capitol,” Nazareno said in an interview Tuesday.
Cavite is a first-class province with a population of 3.3 million, the biggest in the country. Thousands of people transact business daily at the Capitol which has some 26 agencies and departments.
Nazareno said that the administration will use the domain name system (DNS) or centralized automation procedure for efficient and effective office operations and services.
The DNS is expected to reduce processing time of documents or records, effectively allow the authorized to collaborate on the needs of clients, improve management and internal processing; disseminate and retrieve information from the top down to the lower levels; locate, track and minimize lost materials, integrate and coordinate activities, and keep-in-touch with different agencies and departments.
The DNS is a hierarchical naming system built on a distributed database for computers, services, or any resource connected to the Internet or a private network. It associates with various information or records with domain names assigned to each of the participating entities or offices.
Nazareno said that the DNS have three “access levels,” which are “full,” “modify” and “read.”
“Full” means full control-access where one computer user can read, edit, save, delete, etc., “modify” read, edit and save only and “read” read and view only.
Nazareno said that with DNS, computer games and social networking such as Facebook and personal YM (Yahoo Messenger) communication “will be things of the past” at the Capitol.
It was observed that some employees at the Capitol while their hours, particularly during breaks, by playing computer games, tending to Facebook or just for personal scrolling.
“Pag DNS na, goodbye na sa Facebook at iba pang personal na gamit para sa mga empleyado sa Kapitolyo,” Nazareno kidded. (With DNS, it’s goodbye to Facebook and other personal uses for Capitol employees.)
The DNS is a brainchild project of the governor. Nazareno said the DNS will operate at the soonest possible time, "maybe within three months."
The 43-year-old Remulla Jr. has called on employes to be prompt and effective when rendering services at the Capitol.
