Once more, Ms. Michaela “Pinky” Puno is bringing some of the best dancers from around the world via the Philippine StarBall which she organized a few years ago.

The fabulous event will be held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel on Feb. 12. It will treat Manilans to a show featuring the sultry rumba, the cheeky cha-cha, the romantic waltz, the heart-pumping jive, and the passionate Argentine Tango. The show is dubbed “Dance Festival of Champions,” and the participants are indeed all champions.

Gary McDonald, 10-time US Dance Champion and partner of actress Jennifer Lopez in her dream sequence in the movie “Shall We Dance,” returns as the emcee. He will also enlighten us on the six different styles of dance to be performed. Guest artists will be flying in from Russia, Germany, Poland, USA, Italy, and Argentina.

But of course, our very own dance champions and enthusiasts, among them Ms. Puno, will also be featured. Before the Philippine StarBall was presented locally, Ms. Puno has been attending international dance championship events.
The former ballerina’s passion for dance has not been diminished by the fact that she is also a doting and devoted wife and mother.

In “Philippine StarBall Festival of Champions,” Ms. Puno will demonstrate Argentine Tango with her partner Slava Sergiev. This will be one of the highlights of the show.

Splintr.com presents Deftones in Manila

The Deftones, that amazing band from Sacramento, California that’s been playing beautiful music since 1988, will be presented by Splintr.com in a pre-Valentine show in Manila. “Deftones Live in Manila” will be held at the World Trade Center on Feb. 12. Opening acts are Urbandub and Slapshock.

The Deftones consist of Chino Moreno on lead vocals and guitar, Stephen Carpenter on guitar, Chi Cheng on bass, Frank Delgado on keyboards and turntables, and Abe Cunningham on drums and percussion. To date, the group has released six brillant albums: “Adrenaline” (1994-1996), “Around the Fur” (1997-1999), “White Pony” (2000-2002), “Deftones” (2003-2005), “Saturday Night Wrist” (2006-2007), and the latest and most amazing yet, “Diamond Eyes” (2010).

The group has always been proud of their musical diversity. While some people describe them as alternative metal, others categorize them under experimental rock. Their diverse influences (Duran Duran, The Care, Cocteau Twins, Sadu Adu and B-Real) played a big part on their ever-changing sound. The Deftones makes sure that rarely sound the same to create diversity in their sound, for them and for their fans. Who will be SML babe this 2011?

San Mig Light is coming up very soon with a sizzling hot TV commercial featuring its newest endorser, expected to send temperatures of fans of the country’s No. 1 low-calorie beer to fever pitch.

So who is she, this lucky babe who will be the face of San Mig Light this year? Well, she is a young mestiza gifted with a pretty face and a body that viewers readily noticed when she was cast in a TV reality show. With her new job as endorser of a top-earning SMB beer brand, she is expected to gain nationwide popularity that is certain to push her towards stardom.

When asked if the new celebrity will be paired with another male celebrity (like Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, her predecessors), our source kept mum on the issue but playfully hinted “baka hindi lang isa. Pwedeng marami. She’s a real magnet, anyway.”

The actress-model will be clad in a sexy swimwear which complements her “katawang pang-San Mig Light” as described by our source. As you may well know, San Mig Light is the country’s first and leading light beer brand because it is low in calorie and less filling. This allows beer lovers to have a “mahaba-habang inuman” over buckets of San Mig Light.

So watch out for the newest and the hottest-ever San Mig Light commercial this February.
