Capitol backs duck-raising in Candaba
CANDABA, Pampanga – Governor Lilia G. Pineda committed Saturday the Capitol’s support for Candaba’s duck-raising industry and promised to provide the necessary financial augmentation for the construction of a feed mill in the area.
This developed during the first community dialogue and outreach program of the governor’s administration, which was recently conducted at Candaba’s municipal hall extension in Barangay Salapungan. The governor told the duck raisers that her administration will fully support Candaba’s duck-raising industry as it will boost not only the town’s economy but the entire province of Pampanga as well. Limit on Baguio schools sought
BAGUIO CITY – The Cordillera office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and administrators of English tutorial schools in Baguio City want the immediate implementation of a moratorium on the establishment of more tutorial schools.
During a recent public hearing convened by the City Council, administrators of English tutorial schools said the implementation of the moratorium will help raise the standards of the existing schools amid the growing demand – particularly by Koreans – for tutors of the international language. Antipolo trike fares up at night
ANTIPOLO CITY – Night-time commuters who take tricycles in the city are appealing to government
officials to strictly implement the law against “colorum” or unregistered tricycles and drivers who charge them exorbitant fares.
It was learned that colorum tricycles are still roaming the streets of the city freely especially during night time even as the city government’s Public Order and Safety Division (POSD), the local government unit office in charge of enforcing traffic related laws has been reportedly arresting violators. Harmonizing laws on I.C.C. & I.P. pushed
BAGUIO CITY – A Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) official in this region is pushing for the immediate signing of the agreement among concerned agencies for the harmonization of laws affecting the rights of the Indigenous Cultural Communities or Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) to prevent the conflicts created in the implementation of the country’s land laws which were found to have been overlapping.
Clarence Baguilat, DENR Cordillera Regional Executive Director said such a move is needed to settle disputes such as the conflict in this city’s identification of NCIP boundaries. (Dexter A. See)
Truth told about Ortega
The alleged gunman in the killing of radio broadcaster Dr. Gerry Ortega has been told that the man whom he allegedly killed in Coron, Palawan is a good man, a Puerto Princesa City police official revealed Saturday.
Supt. Rolando Amurao, Puerto Princesa City chief of police, said suspect Marlon Dicamata was told when he allegedly accepted the contract to kill Ortega that the latter was a rapist and a bad man.
When told of the truth of Ortega’s good work, Dicamata nearly broke out in tears, said Amurao.
The other day, the police arrested in Quezon Dicamata’s alleged lookout in the January 25 killing, Dennis Aranas. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
