Non-government organizations to hold lecture series on social transformation
MANILA, Philippines — The Samabayanihan Foundation, Inc. and the Asian Center for Continuing Education & Social Solidarity (ACCESS) Inc. will hold a lecture series dubbed “A Phenomenological Reflection by Dr. Mina M. Ramirez,” pertaining to topics relevant to society, particularly the youth and how they can be vehicles of social transformation.
The first lecture, entitled “The Vanishing Youth? and the Philippine Reality: Some Insights into the Meaning & Significance of Youth Participation Towards Social Transformation” is to be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 1-5 pm at the Bay View Park Hotel in Roxas Blvd., Manila.
Members of the panel include Vice-Mayor Francisco Domogo, a.k.a “Isko Moreno” of the City of Manila, Rev. Fr. Conegondo Garganta, Executive Director of the Commission on Youth of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and Mr. John Carlo de los Reyes, the Presidential candidate of Kapatiran Party in the 2010 elections.
Issues to be tackled include those shared by Dr. Mina M. Ramirez, President of the Asian Social Institute (ASI) at the Pontifical Academy of the Social Science in the Vatican.
Dr. Ramirez is a founding member of the ASI, originally appointed by Pope John Paul II and renewed for another 10-year term by Pope Benedict XII in 2004.
