Kapuso extends reign from Manila to NUP

Is ABS-CBN losing its claim as the national ratings leader?

Because the numbers of independent research group AGB Nielsen tend to substantiate GMA Network’s upward performance – displacing ABS-CBN in the No. 1 position for the national ratings supremacy.

For partial January, covering the period Jan. 10 to 25, National Urban TV Audience Measurement (NUTAM) data show that GMA has gained higher in both audience share and people rating. According to AGB Nielsen, GMA registered an average audience share of 33.4 points, 0.7 point higher than ABS’s 32.7; and 6.6 people rating points, slightly edging ABS’ 6.5 points by 0.1.

From September 2003, the Kapuso station has become the staple channel in Mega Manila households. Now, with the entry of 2011, GMA might cover a broader landscape with its nationwide lead.

How about the Pangilinan-led TV5? The AGB research says that despite the recent multi-million investments to push the channel, TV5 remains a far third. It was 17.6 points behind GMA in audience share with only 15.8 points; and 3.5 points behind GMA in people rating with only 3.1.

Diabetes can be prevented, controlled

Unknown to many, members of the showbiz industry are suffering from diabetes, and sometime in the recent past, a well-known director had his legs amputated and subsequently died.

Diabetes, when not managed and controlled properly, will soon cause a number of complications adversely affecting several organs of the body.

Dr. Tomas Ty Willing, president of Diabetes Philippines, said all is not lost when one acquires the disorder. The patient must drastically change and overhaul his or her lifestyle and follow religiously prescribed medicines.

There are five simple measures to follow in preventing or managing diabetes: 1. Don’t smoke; 2. Eat right; 3. Exercise; 4. Watch your weight, and 5. Relax. Presently, there are about 285 million people suffering diabetes worldwide, and about six million in the Philippines.
