Enviro-box launched
SAN CARLOS CITY, Neg. Occ. (PIA) – The San Carlos city government has launched an earth-based construction material known as Interlocking Compressed Earth Block (ICEB) or the San Carlos Enviro-Blox and inaugurated its resource center called the Philippine Earth Construction Resource and Reference Center Building recently.
The Enviro-Blox is an environment friendly construction material used for wide application, mainstreaming and direct use.
Under a public- private partnership with The Julio and Florentina Ledesma Foundation Inc. as the technology provider and facilitator, 16 classrooms will be constructed as an output of the on-the-job ICEB Training Courses under its construction application and use.
Cambodian circus comes to Bohol
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol (PIA) – A circus group promoting the brightness of the art of Cambodia comes to Bohol to spread understanding of the Cambodian way of life and promote their arts and culture overseas, informed a respected Capitol arts and culture consultant.
Lutgardo Labad, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Executive Committee Chair on Dramatic Arts bared this as a big event for the National Arts Month, the Philippine International Arts Festival celebrations as brought by NCCA, in cooperation with the TANGHAL 5 annual school based theater festival of the National University and the Performance Laboratory of Bacolod.
D.I.L.G. 6 craft plans in Capiz
ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) – Top officials of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Western Visayas held a two-day session crafting out operations plan for this year in Capiz.
Capiz DILG Provincial Director Helen Mestidio said they conducted the planning conference in Roxas city with provincial directors from other provinces in Western Visayas, including the Division Chiefs of DILG Regional Offices and planning officers from the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, Negros Occidental and Capiz and from Bacolod and Iloilo City.
Medical Mission goes to Eastern Samar
BORONGAN, Eastern Samar (PIA) – Hundreds trooped to the Eastern Samar Provincial Hospital for the 7th Bulig Kablas Medical Mission initiated by the Diocese of Borongan.
With the help of the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois and the province of Eastern sSamar’s local government unit, residents from all 23 towns got free medical attention.
According to Fr. Juderick Calumpiano, coordinator for the diocese’s Commission on Social Action, major and minor operations were given to the patients. “We had an ophthalmologist, a pediatrician, and an obstetrician who gave free services,” Calumpiano said regarding the team of doctors in the mission.
Training on governance set
TACLOBAN CITY, Leyte (PIA) – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) here has scheduled training aimed at helping barangay officials in Eastern Visayas improve their governance capabilities.
In a report by Myles Joseph E. Colasito, Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) V and at the same time Regional Information Officer (RIO) of DILG 8, he said that DILG is now ready for the second component of its training program for barangay officials under the Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) Component 2 or “Laying the Foundation”.
