Quezon focuses on child labor
LUCENA CITY – Quezon Governor David Suarez has ordered provincial, city and municipal government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs) in this province to create a child labor committee under the Quezon Council for the Protection of Children.
Suarez said the creation of child labor committees is pursuant to Republic Act No. 9231 which provides special protection of children from all forms of abuse, neglect, cruelty, exploitation and discrimination, and other conditions prejudicial to their development including child labor. Garcia promotes Balanga Park
BALANGA CITY — Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III said yesterday that he will work for the promotion of the Wetlands and Nature Park in this city particularly among children, who deserve the chance to appreciate and take pride in the richness of local environment.
Garcia said that by simple bird watching, the park can make school children environmentally consciousness. Garcia has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Department of Education (Dep Ed) to hold educational field trips at the park for Grade 5 pupils in all elementary schools in the city. 'Pulis ko, titser ko' drive back
RIZAL PROVINCE — Policemen who have units in education have been tapped to lead the group of teacher-cops who spearhead the regular lectures on anti-crime and drug awareness lectures in schools in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
Dubbed as “Pulis Ko Titser Ko”, this project will have policemen detailed with the Police Community Relations (PCR) offices act as lecturers or teachers to selected public elementary school pupils in their respective locality.
Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao said this project has been gaining support from students, school authorities and the parents in this province. (Nel B. Andrade)
P4-M development for Burnham Park
BAGUIO CITY — A militant party-list group and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) earmarked a total of P4 million to fund the implementation of several projects that will help improve the condition of Burnham Park, the city’s main tourist attraction located at the heart of the city.
Out of the said amount, P3 million came from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (DAF) of the Gabriela party-list group for the construction of an indigenous-inspired structure while P1 million came from the DPWH regular infrastructure fund for the construction of a multipurpose building to be used by the Burnham-Legarda barangay. Pangasinan aims for number 1
LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — Governor Amado T. Espino Jr. appealed recently for more support from his constituents to continue to share in the responsibility of fulfilling his vision to make Pangasinan the most outstanding province in the country.
Speaking at the Capitol grandstand last Monday, Espino said the province should aim for more investment opportunities, creation of jobs and livelihood activities for the people, reduction of incidence among the people on top of peace and order, health care, and other basic services.
Since 2008, Pangasinan has been a grandslam winner in regional competitions. (Liezle Basa Iñigo)
