Solo bettor from La Union wins P77 M
MANILA, Philippines – Valentine's Day and the rest of the days to come will be a lot, lot better for a solo bettor after the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) through its online lotteries produced February's solo first jackpot winner from La Union after grabbing P77,373,363.60 in the Thursday draw of Super Lotto 6/49.
PCSO's first instant millionaire in 2011 won also from Super Lotto -- 26-20-22-18-11-10 -- on Jan. 4 his P61.31 million bonanza. Until now, the winner has not yet claimed his prize.
Manager Manuel "Manny" C. Garcia of the PCSO-Publicity and Public Relations Department (PCSO-PPRD) said the winner of the P77,373,363.60, with the winning combination of 44-06-09-01-40-24 bought the ticket in La Union.
It marked the first lotto jackpot winner this month, he said.
Garcia reiterated that revenues from the lotteries are being used for the Prize Fund (55 percent), Charity Fund (30 percent), and Operating Fund (15 percent).
This developed as the PCSO, now chaired by Margarita P. Juico, has forfeited in 2010 a total of over half a billion pesos, or P605,273,958.20,mostly from unclaimed consolation prizes of the various lotto games and other products of the state charitable agency.
Forfeited prizes after the one-year window for claiming them had lapsed are poured into the Charity Fund, "a trust and liability account and is used exclusively to finance and support health programs, medical assistance and services and/or charities of national character."
Over P5.5 million from the Mega Lotto 6/45's P16 million-plus jackpot, the share of the third winner on Feb. 10, 2010 was forfeited this month after the winner did not show.
