Danita sings her heart out on Valentine's Day
MANILA, Philippines — If singer turned actress Danita Paner is singing love songs this Valentine season, it’s for obvious reason. She earlier revealed the special relationship she shares with “My Driver, Sweet Lover” love teammate JC De Vera and squeals in delight how reel-love can elevate to real-love.
Not labeling what she and JC have though, “what you see is what you get,” shared Danita, who juggles showbiz and night gigs with her band. She said singing is her passion, but considers acting as a challenge.
Blooming indeed, the 21-year-old daughter of former Sampaguita Pictures actress Daisy Romualdez, will be singing her heart out in a special show mounted by DR Productions in cooperation with Manila Hotel and Manila Bulletin among others, aptly titled, “The Balladeers on Valentine’s Day.”
The show, which is set on Feb. 14 at the Manila Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel at 7:30 p.m., features Danita with Erik Santos and Mark Bautista, with the special participation of Ms. Pilita Corrales, Ms. Carmen Pateña and Ms. Carmen Soriano. It also features K Brosas and surprise guests, and introduces Paula Bianca.
“I’ll be singing love songs on the show. I’ll have solo numbers but most will be with the other performers singing medleys,” Danita shared in an interview during her recent visit to Manila Bulletin.
As to what’s next for the pretty and talented Danita on TV5, it would probably be Carlo J. Caparas’ “Bangis” and if plans push through, it might pair her with Derek Ramsay.
Proceeds of the Valentine show will be used for the construction of San Roque Church in Agmanic Santa Fe, Romblon.
Directed by GB Sampedro, and Homer Flores as its musical director, tickets to “The Balladeers on Valentine’s Day” are available at Ticketworld.

Lovi marks b-day on ‘Party Pilipinas’
Lovi Poe has every reason to be happy these days. Her most recent film, “My Valentine Girls,” is a box-office smash, and the reviews and feedback she has been receiving for her portrayal of Ruby, Richard Gutierrez’s new flame, has all been very positive. Indeed, this strengthens Lovi’s credibility as one of today’s finest actors. It also proves that her winning the Best Actress award twice last year was no fluke. Lovi has even started work in “Captain Barbell,” as one of Richard Gutierrez’s leading ladies.
“That’s another thing to look forward to,” says the young singer/actress. “Because Richard Gutierrez is my ultimate leading man.” Lovi is also about to start work on “Temptation Island,” a remake of the 1980 cult film. This excites Lovi as she will work with her closest friends in showbiz, like Marian Rivera, Solenn Heussaff and Heart Evangelista.
Today, Feb. 13, Lovi marks another milestone in her young, flourishing career as she celebrates her birthday in GMA-7’s “Party Pilipinas.” Lovi has prepared surprise production numbers for the show. After “Party Pilipinas,” Lovi will go to Enchanted Kingdom to celebrate her big day with the less fortunate street children of Childhope Asia.
