Glam up for prom
MANILA, Philippines - PROM night is more than just the outfit. While months are spent searching for the perfect gown, shoes, and accessories, girls often forget the most crucial part of their prom look: hair and makeup.
Whether you’re getting your hair and makeup done professionally or you and your friends are planning a pre-prom primp session, planning your look before the night of the prom guarantees that the most important night of your high school life will be a memory you’ll cherish forever.
BRIGHT EYES
Eye makeup is the highlight of the hottest new looks for this year’s prom. Vibrant, colorful eye shadows are in, while dark, earthy eye shadows are out. Hair and beauty guru Ricky Reyes recommends greens, blues, lilacs, and pinks for girls with fair complexions, while morenas can opt for light gold or warm copper. Complete the look with a matching lip color.
Reyes also reveals more makeup tips:
Foundation is still basic. Foundation evens out the complexion, covers flaws, and can even change your skintone. Apply foundation by starting in the center of your face, blending outward and down to the neck.
LIPSTICK TRICKS
You don’t need to resort to collagen to achieve fuller lips. Apply a light, matte lip color to the center of your pout and add your final lipstick color on top to create the illusion of fullness.
You can also “extend” your lips by drawing lipliner just along the border of your lip, using a lip brush to blend the line down onto the lips, drawing the color toward the fullest area of the lip (below the bow). Dab lipgloss at the center to catch the light at the curve of the lips.
ON BRANDS
Do not confine yourself to just one brand of makeup, because each brand will only have a couple of really good colors, while the rest are there to complete the palette. Also, do not be afraid to use local cosmetics, there are a lot of good products by local makeup brands.
LUSTROUS LOCKS
Regardless of the hairstyle, get your hair in tip-top shape before the prom. Day-to-day shampooing can strip hair of beneficial oil called sebum, leaving hair dull, dry, and damaged. Regular blowdrying, curling, straightening and coloring, buildup of various styling aids and products, and exposure to direct sunlight also compounds hair problems, taking away hair’s natural shine.
Ricky Reyes introduces a revolutionary new treatment for lackluster hair: Hair Gloss.
“You can spend time, money and effort to make hair look beautiful,” states the top hairdresser. “But all those efforts are wasted if your hair is dry and brittle.”
Hair Gloss is a patented treatment designed to revitalize hair to compensate for the loss of glow from daily shampooing and styling. The treatment serum comes in four colors: violet (for reddish hair), yellow orange (for copper hair), white (for black hair), and brown.
Hair Gloss is applied on four sections of the hair, which are rolled so that the ingredients can penetrate completely. Hair is then clamped with an iron to ensure that heat is well-distributed. The treatment is left to cool for ten minutes, then rinsed without shampoo or conditioner.
The result is shiny hair and healthy roots, which will look good with any prom hairstyle. with an effect that lasts for about six weeks, even with everyday shampoo.
“The prom is a special night in a girl’s life that will forever be immortalized in prom pictures and yearbooks,” Ricky enthuses. “Looking good on prom night will make this event truly memorable.”
