Calamba Office launched
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Philippines – SM City Calamba joined the My Green Partner and Adopt-ARiver launching of Calamba City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) last Tuesday.
Headed by CENRO Officer Ms. Loida Humarang, the project encourages participation of public and private sectors in the rehabilitation and maintenance of the three main rivers – San Cristobal, San Juan, and Baranca de Sipit – with guidance and technical assistance from the local government.
As part of its corporate social responsibility, SM City Calamba together with the other sectors in Calamba bonds with CENRO through this project. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Calaca gets Police Station
CALACA, Batangas, Philippines – PNP Director General Raul Bacalzo on Tuesday led the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Municipal Police Station, here.
Bacalzo said the PNP allotted P5 million for the construction of the three-storey local police station located at the back of the new town hall of Calaca in Barangay Poblacion 4. The local government unit (LGU) led by Mayor Sofronia Ona donated the land with 512-square meters. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Central Luzon Police train
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, Philippines – Some 359 police investigators in different Police stations in Central Luzon Wednesday started to undergo a 45-day Criminal Investigation Course (CIC).
Police instructors who participated in the CIC initiated by the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) headed by Chief Supt. Alan La Madrid Purisima came from different provinces and cities of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales and the cities of Angeles, and Olongapo. (Franco G. Regala)
San Pedro celebrates
SAN PEDRO, Laguna, Philippines – The town's third "Sampaguita Festival" will begin their five-day celebration this Friday, coincides with the observance of the Feast of St. Peter, the Patron Saint. Entertainment throughout the five-day festival is in store for the townsfolk of San Pedro.
This will include a Mardi Gras Parade, to be participated in by students, teachers, school officials, and PTAs from public and private schools, the La Torre Brass Band competition, a multi-sectoral parade with floats of the different interpretations of Manok Ni San Pedro; a street-dancing competition, youth sports fests, and the Sampaguita Splint Triathlon. Quake hits Batanes
SINAIT, Ilocos Sur, Philippines – A moderately strong tectonic earthquake with magnitude 5.7 hit Batanes province last Tuesday afternoon but no damage to properties reported, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) satellite based in Sinait, Ilocos Sur.
Local Phivolcs Researcher Porferio Peralta told Wednesday that the quake was occurred at about 3:18 p.m. last Tuesday with its epicenter located at 117 kilometers northwest of Basco, Batanes with a depth of 48 kilometers. Peralta said that intensity three was felt in Basco, Batanes. He said that aftershocks will be expected after the quake. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
