NORSU nursing grads pass exams

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) – The Negros Oriental State University (NORSU) has announced that all its 21 nursing graduates have passed the Nursing Licensure Examination held last December 2010.

NORSU President Dr. Henry A. Sojor said this is the second batch of nursing graduates produced by the state university, and the second time that NORSU garnered a 100% passing rate in the nursing licensure test.

The new nurses are Camad Ali Jr., Jeanie Batiancila, Marie Neil Bon, Dibie Grace Cabus, Junsly Ceriales, Sandy Kristina David, France April Dela Cruz, Glady Gelera, Jerry Kinkito, Chryssle Marie Larracas, Richelle Manso, Shiela Pajulas, Saharah Pangcatan, Bayron Regalado, Janini Rondera, Marigine Rusiana, Anthony Rey Saycon, Vretchy Tuballa, Amor Valencia, Paul Kenjie Valerio and Ma. Victoria Zarate.

Barangay crafts out dev't plan
SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) –Barangay officials of 28 barangays in San Jose, Antique recently crafted out a three-year development plan for their respective barangays.

The plans contain programs, projects and directions for the different barangays to be used as their guide in achieving sustainable development.

Marilou Llavan, Executive Director of the Antique Human Development Program (AHDP) said the planning process was participated in by community residents.

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental (PIA) – The Philippine Army’s 302nd Infantry Brigade has bared activities marking its 114th Founding Anniversary on March 22, 2011 with the theme, "Hukbong Katihan at Sambayanan: Bayanihan para sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran."

PA Information Officer, Major Sonny Gonzales said the month-long celebration will start with a with a bloodletting, photo exhibit and film showing.

Gonzales also said an Army singing soldier competition will be held at Robinson’s Place, Dumaguete City.

Never too old to commit sin
MINGLANILLA, Cebu – Police are looking for a 90-year-old man who allegedly abused his 76-year-old female neighbor in the mountain barangay of Vito, this town, early this week.

The victim, who filed a rape case against her neighbor before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office, claimed she was about to boil water in her kitchen when the suspect embraced her from behind.

After two attempts, the suspect allegedly was able to consummate the act.

A check-up at the Vicente Sotto Memorical Medical Center showed that the victim was indeed assaulted, said PO2 2 Hazel Tuazon of the Women's Desk of Minglanilla Police Station.

Two queried on suspicious substances
MACTAN, Cebu – Two Hong Kong-based Chinese nationals were held for questioning at the Mactan International Airport for bearing at least three kilos of suspected pseudoephedrine, the main ingredient in the making of illegal substance, methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.

The male and female Chinese nationals who acted suspiciously after arriving on board a Cebu Pacific flight from Hong Kong past 4 A.M. were apprehended after being sniffed by drug-sniffing dogs handled by K9 personnel, said Levi Ortiz, deputy director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7.
