Summer job program launched in Laguna
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — Some 750 college students of this city will be the beneficiaries of the Calamba City Government "Summer Job Program" this school year's vacation.
City Mayor Joaquin Chipeco said the 500 students will be deploy in different department in the city hall through Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) while the 250 remaining students will assigned in the community based monitoring system-household profile questionnaire under the supervision of the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO).
Since 1998, the city government of Calamba had already benefited 7,000 college students in this program. (Ferdinand F. Castro)
Pangasinan farm production
DAGUPAN CITY — Pangasinan wants an increase in farm production as it continues to adopt measures that will increase agricultural production despite its status as the bread basket of the North. In a report, Pangasinan practically supplies the staple needs of other provinces in Luzon with its surplus of rice production every year.
Provincial agriculturist Dalisay Moya told that Pangasinan even had a sufficiency level of 128 percent when typhoon Pepeng brought unprecedented floods to the province in October 2009.
Earlier, Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr., has directed her office to implement measures that will increase production in rice, corn, vegetables, high value crops and marine products. (Liezle Basa Inigo )
Tourism security in Zambales
IBA, ZAMBALES — In its bid to becoming the next tourism site in the country, the province of Zambales is stepping up its security parallel to the provincial government’s thrust by launching the “Tourism Police Patrol” project.
“Tourism Police Patrol” project was launched at the provincial capitol the other day, along with the presentation of some 15 units of electronic bicycles or “e-bikes” that will be used to patrol tourist destination sites of every town in Zambales.
According to a report by PIA Zambales, these eco-friendly bicycles have functions similar to motor vehicles including lights and horns. (Jonas Reyes)
Bamboo bike production
PORAC, Pampanga — A Capampangan male multi-awarded artist in this town recently launched his newest creations of organic bikes with 80 percent made by bamboo sticks, it is also to provide livelihood opportunity to the Aeta communities here.
Hermie Pineda, a visual artist-sculptor and painter said that his new creations of bamboo bikes will be expected to boost in providing livelihood opportunity to the Aeta ‘s families. He said "buying bamboo bikes is creating a livelihood for the Aetas" and it also expects to benefit the bamboo industry not only in Porac town but in the province.(Franco. G. Regala)
Tarlac job fair
TARLAC CITY — Tarlac Governor Victor Jose Yap today lead the opening of two-day mega jobs fair which slated March 4 and 5 at the Diwa ng Tarlac. Thousands overseas careers will also be offered in the billed as “Handog Trabaho ni Gob. Sa Kanyang Kaarawan.”
Among the occupations at stake include motorpool workers (auto-mechanics/electricians/painters/denters/ auto aircon tech), medical & hospital staff (nurse/laboratory technicians/ therapists/medical secretaries/x-ray technicians), construction workers (carpenters/H.E. operators/masons/plumbers/rebar/electrician), maintenance workers, engineers, I.T. personnel, cooks, waiters, dressmakers, baby sitters, drivers, reflexologists and manicurists.
