Scattered rains to persist in extreme N. Luzon; isolated rain showers over the rest of the country — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, June 3 said two weather systems may prevail across the archipelago in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA said the frontal system, a weather system formed by the convergence of warm and cold air, will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms to the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
It warned that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas as a result of moderate to heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm air from the Pacific Ocean, could continue to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the rest of the country.
PAGASA also warned the public about possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Weather Specialist Obet Badrina said the country may remain cyclone-free for the next three days as PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area that could develop into a tropical cyclone.
He added that the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” is expected to re-strengthen and bring scattered rain showers to the western parts of the country in the coming days.
