Power retailer Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced it will continue its partnership with Robinsons Land Corp. (RLC) to supply electric services to its commercial and residential developments.
Meralco said it created a comprehensive development plan that will support the power requirements of the existing and future projects of the Gokongwei-led real estate firm.
These include the Sierra Valley in Rizal and The Jewel in Mandaluyong City which are both expected to be operational by 2026.
"We are excited to partner with Meralco to further our mission of promoting sustainable development. This partnership will enable us to provide our customers and residents with energy-efficient solutions that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable,” said Lance Y. Gokongwei, president and chief executive officer of RLC.
“Together, we are not only reaching significant milestones but also paving the way for future innovations and growth. Our commitment to excellence and sustainable development reaffirms our shared vision for a brighter, more resilient future,” Gokongwei added.
Meralco and RLC’s partnership in five years includes the solar photovoltaic installation for Nustar Resort and Casino through the utility’s solar company, MSpectrum, and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations in several Robinsons Malls in 2022 through Movem, Meralco's sustainable mobility arm.
RLC is also part of the Interruptible Load Program, under which 10 Robinsons Malls in the Meralco franchise area take part in demand-side management when power supply situation in Luzon is insufficient.
“Meralco and RLC’s fruitful collaboration over the years take centerstage in our business review session. Aside from providing world-class and innovative energy solutions, our goal is to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and strategically align efforts towards shared success,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz said.

“It is our mandate as the country’s largest distribution utility to provide utmost support and deliver exceptional service to our customers to drive success for businesses and communities, which play a significant role in propelling our growth as a nation,” Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho stated.
