Intense heat continues: 40 areas may experience 'dangerous' heat index on April 28

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 40 areas may record a “dangerous” heat index on Sunday, April 28.

PAGASA said a heat index of 47 degrees Celsius (°C) may be felt in Aparri, Cagayan, while a heat index of 46°C may be recorded in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

A heat index of 45°C may also be felt in Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City; Sangley Point, Cavite; Daet, Canarines Norte; Virac, Catanduanes; and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) in Pili, Camarines Sur.

In Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; Isabela State University (ISU) in Echague, Isabela; Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas; Coron, Palawan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Aborlan, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte, a heat index of 44°C.

A heat index of 43°C may also be felt in PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Batac, Ilocos Norte; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Masbate City, Masbate; Legazpi City, Albay; La Granja, La Carlota, Negros Occidental; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.

In Calayan, Cagayan; Nueva Vizcaya State University (NVSU) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya; Clark Airport, Pampanga; Central Luzon State University (CLSU) in Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Baler, Aurora; Casiguran, Aurora; Tayabas, Quezon; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Mambusao, Capiz; Davao City, Davao del Sur; and Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, a heat index of 42°C may be felt.
