MANILA, Philippines – Several Korean celebrities were in Japan when the powerful 8.9 earthquake hit last March 11.

They are now back in South Korea and narrated their terrifying experience during the earthquake.

2NE1 was in Japan to guest on a music show but with the earthquake, their Japanese debut were postponed indefinitely.

Sandara Park along with Park Bom and Minzy arrived in South Korea on March 12.

Sandara said they were in their room on the 34th floor of a hotel in Japan when the temblor struck.

“Since it was a higher location, we had experienced an even greater shake, and I was extremely shocked,” YGladies.com quoted Sandara as saying in an interview with a Korean news media.

The earthquake spawned a massive tsunami that killed thousands of people especially in the coastal city of Sendai.

Sandara said her body was shaking as the earthquake struck. Her experience was so great that even on her flight back to South Korea, she "couldn’t calm myself from the shock.”

With the elevator not working, Sandara said she used the stairs from the 34th floor to the ground floor and went to a safe place.

She said she was worried about the Japanese fans that were waiting for them in front of the hotel.

She added that they feel concerned for the Japanese people who suffered during the earthquake.

She said she feels scared every time she recalls her experience.

Fans felt relieved that 2NE1 came back safely in South Korea.

“I am happy and relieve that all the girls are back. They must have been really traumatized and I hope they all recover well. I pray for the Japanese too and the rest of the world,” one fan with the username Charmed21 posted on YGLadies.com.
